sleeping problem...need help!

we do a partial routine i guess you could say. Our son is on solid food and just turned 10 months old. we feed him dinner at around 7:00-7:30 and then bath time at 8. I find that the bath really helps him calm down for bed. Then after his bath i give him a bottle with rice cereal in it kinda as a top up i guess you can say so his stomach is nice and full. This works for us but i know every baby is different. Our little man sleeps 10-12hrs every night. If anything i would try the rice cereal in the bottle before bed. Good Luck!

Babies are physiologically made to sleep in REM throught the night in order for brain reparation. All day long they are bombarded with a million new sensations, pictures, words, motions, sounds, movements, etc etc etc etc. During naps they are so PHYSICALLY exhausted so they sleep in DEEP sleep. At night though, their brain puts their body in REM or light sleep. That is the only sleep in which their brains can repair, sort out new information and build new cells. Any noise, even their own breathing, can wake them from this. It's unfortunate but it is how they develop!

Also, babies are more comfortable with mom and or dad because during the day you give them comfort and reassurance. At night, alone in their crib, they don't get that which is why it is so difficult for them to get back to sleep after the innevitable waking. My husband and our son share a bed at night, it's their time to bond, snuggle etc as I am home all day with him. This way, I get a good nights sleep and daddy and baby spend much needed time together (even if they're just sleeping!).

Remember, it won't last forever and you're DEFINATELY not alone!

Hi All,

Thanks for the comments. I have try the routine, it doesn't work. He will sleep at 7pm and awake every 2 hrs...continue with playtime...ended up sleep at 11 or 12am... Solid before bedtime? I will give a try...I can't imagine having this issue and have 2 go to work the next morning...Thank God, I am a housewife...

give him a bedtime routine, something like a bath, a bottle, and a bedtime story. then put him in his crib and either let him cry it out, or use a sleep training method that doesn't involve that. it will take a few nights, but if you keep the routine and the time consistent, he will eventually get it. as for the night feedings, try giving him more solids at night.

Have you tried baby rice or porriage before bed? Great way to fill them up. Also I only insist on Emma having water in the night. I leave the bottle in her bed so she can find it herself. Also I use Pampers size 4 nappies. They last 12hours and keep the baby still comfortable. Hope this helps.

I'm having the same problem!! My 10 month old wakes up twice and eats once. I'm not sure what to do because he is waking up so tired in the morning. If you figure something out let me know, I'm just glad I'm not the only one whose kiddo isn't sleeping at night.
