I noticed today that the soft spot on top of my son's head isn't moving anymore. Before I could see it pulsing just looking at it, I felt it with my fingers and it feels like its still moving but I can't see it. At what age is the soft spot supposed to close? Should I be worried and call my doctor?

There are two. The one in the back is supposed to stay open for a year and the one on top for almost two I think. Don't worry if you can't see it pulsing more important can you feel a space between the bones that is softer. As long as the space is there you are good. Ask your Doctor a your next appointment to put your mind at rest but if you can feel it I wouldn't worry.

I've never seen my daughters moving but my doctor did tell me the "soft spot" isn't actually soft. There is very thick protective layers there to protect babies brain. I guess as they age and get more mobile this thickens even more perhaps that explains the change. But if your concerns definatly see your doctor !

It slowly closes over time. They actually have two soft spots, there's another on the back of their head. I believe 5yrs old is when they completely close but I'm not completely sure. I'm sure his soft spot is still there. You definitely don't want to mess with it though because that is their brain. If it is worrying you definitely talk to your doctor about it at your next well child check u, but I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.
