Some questions about an 11 month old baby girl?

Hi mums and dads,

I have an 11 month old little girl, Alleah. She started teething about 2 months ago and she has 2 bottom teeth now. She was fine getting those through and we hardly had a problem but now she has been waking up at night ALOT, like minimum 4 times. I'll give her teething tablets or a bottle and a bum change and she goes back to sleep but wakes up not even an hour later. I looked today to see if she had more teeth coming through but I couldn't see any so I felt her gums and right up the back it felt like a tooth on its way through ( you know when it just starts to cut through). It was in the spot like where out molars come through. Is that possible for an 11 month old considering she only has 2 front bottom teeth? Also, she naps fine during the day (upto 4 hours, from 10am - 2pm roughly) but at night its a different story. She was sleeping through from 4 weeks old until she started teething.

Thanks :)

Yeah, it is very possible and absolutely normal! My 11 month old has 12 teeth now. It's amazing to see how some babies are just getting their first couple teeth and then some (like my daughter) with a mouth full...goes the same way for the order! I hope your little girl starts to feel better soon and even though it may not feel like it, it will pass. Hang in there mama!

My daughter, Taegyn is 11 months and she has 3 top & 3 bottem teeth. And a 4th one coming top & bottem next to the 3! Also, it feels the same as you were saying in the back. So, I'm expecting both sides back teeth to show soon. haha! Altogether, she has 8 teeth cause those ones are pretty much all the way through, just not the back ones yet! But, Teeth can come in any order from my experience. & She was waking every so often during the night, but as another mom said, I believe it was a growth spurt.
Also, someone told you that she should sleep that much, well she should! Here is a little research from babycenter.com - At 9-12 months, babies typically sleep 11 to 14 hours a night and nap twice a day for one to two hours at a time.

Hope this helps! =)

Yes, it's possible. Also, could be a growth spurt or that her body is getting ready for developmental milestones. Hang in there.

My daughter did the same thing, just at a younger age, The best thing i found to do is give her tylenol or motrin before bed and rub her gums with a VERY tiny bit of childrens liquid benadryl. It soothes the gums better than anything else i tried and helps baby sleep more comfortably and soundly. You have to be VERY careful not to give too much, a tiny amount is all you need, allergy medications can supress breathing if given too high a dose. Just dip your finger one time and thats all you should need. Hope it helps!

not all the teeth come in order, amelia had both her bottom teeth, then her two eye teeth and now she is getting her top tooth coming through now, i guess it is different for all babies.

It could also be a growth spurt - my little one (11 months) will wake up a few times when she is going through a growth spurt - she will take a bottle and gobble it down, so I know she's hungry - she will do that every hour from 7pm - 10pm - and then she will sleep - it usually goes on for 3-4 days then stops. Teething could be the cause too. Some infant tylenol or ibuprofen may ease the pain some. But once again it should not be an every night occurence - and she should go back to her normal sleep routine after that. Hang in there - once she gets the new teeth, she will sleep well again. From what I've heard the back teeth are the most painful!

I agree with Sarah. Babies teeth don't necessarily come in a certain order. Audrey has 4 top teeth and 4 bottom. I have heard of babies teething all out of order though. I think a 4 hour nap is very long as well which could be disrupting her at night. Audrey is still nursing so she doesn't sleep through the night YET..but I will be weaning her once she turns one. Can't wait for a full nights sleep. Good luck!!

Oh, I meant upto 4 hours during the day, its broken up though. Most of the time she will nap for about an hour from 10am then again at 1-2pm. Not all at once, my bad lol.
Yeah its getting a bit hard at night with all the waking, I'm getting used to it though :)

Our son is nearly 11 months old and has 8 teeth and started getting really unsettled at night, so we changed his sleep pattern during the day, not letting him have more than an hour and a half at lunch time and now he's asleep by 6.30 and sleeps right thru til 6.30 the next morning. I think when they teeth they are so unsettled and hurting that they "forget" how to sleep and its all about re-training them to sleep right thru again. Its just a phase, it will get better :) It is possible for teeth to come out then go back up into the gum again so maybe those big ones are giving her a rough time....

A friend of mine little boys back teeth came through before his front so id say it is possible. on the other note a 4 hr nap is very long and could be the cause of restlessness during
the night, my 11 month old sleeps through 7 till 7 with an hour - hour and a half for her morning nap and the same again in the afternoon...dont get me wrong sleep is VERY important to there developing, have u thought of spliting the naps to make it shorter? :o)
