I started to give my boy rice when he was 12 weeks old on a spoon cos he wont take it in a bottle, he has it about tea time and it is wat he wanted cos his 9oz bottles jus wasnt feeding him and he was sticking his fist in his mouth all the time.

I started my son on rice cereal at 6 weeks. He was acting as if formulas just wasnt enough for him. He has since then been sleeping through the night and he is much more happy and alot less fussy due to hunger. I tried him on oatmeal however and he didnt do so well with it so we are sticking to strictly rice.

I started mine at 2 and a half months old because of reflux. I just add a tsp of rice cereal in her bottles. She's drinking 5 onces every 3 hours now. The doc said the baby should drink up to half of their weight in onces so, her being about 11 pounds at the time, i took her to five. I think instead of increasing the onces i'll increase the rice first to keep her satisfied for longer without stretching her stomach. They say to start them on it between 4-6 but i think it really depends on the baby and the situation.

He has shown a definite interest in food. He watches me intently whenever I eat in front of him. He is already more than 14 pounds and only 11.5 weeks! I think I'll start him in a week or two.

At my son's 2 month check up, his doctor said to start him on rice cereal at 3 months, but only a little bit in his bottle because they can't spoon feed at that age. Of course, this was only if my son was over 11 pounds, which he is.

I started all of mine on rice cereal around 6 weeks and I found with my last child that putting it on a spoon instead of in a bottle works much better. Just mix it up with cereal and start out with a couple of teaspoons of rice cereal if they eat all of that mix a little more the next night. I always feed them the cereal around 9pm or so and they start sleeping very well at night!! :)

I will start my son on rice cereal at 4 to 4 1/2 months. Any earlier could be a problem as babies kidneys are not mature enough to deal with the extra waste and their digestive systems are not developed enough either to digest 'solid' food. I have been told if you start it any later you can end up with a fussy eating baby, i dont know how true that is. Also if at 4.5 months your baby is less than 5.5kg you should stick to milk as they don't require anything else until they reach beyond that weight at that age, again not to sure how true this is either but apparently there has been research done, so Ive read.
hope this helps =)
