When do babies start talking?

My baby boy has been saying mama for about two weeks... It's so exciting! Every time he wants his bottle... ma ma ma ma I love it!

really at this stage there isn't a late or advanced. Children are going to do things at different times and there is a huge time frame for when is considered normal. Just remember to encourage what they do and don't get frustrated if you think he should be doing something yet and he isn't. Congats!

Wow, it's just amazing to see how each child is so unique in their development. It's great to see such a variation in time span. My daughter said Momma at 6months a few times by accident and now she is started to say it more and knows what she is doing.

Every baby will talk at different times. My almost 6 yo started saying mama at 4 months 3 days and hasn't stopped talking since! My almost 5 yo didn't start saying mama until he was about 8 months. My almost 3 yo started saying mama at 2 months, and not by accident! He said it every time he saw or wanted me!!! My 7 month old baby girl started saying mama and dada just before 5 months. My middle son is still my least talkative, tho that's starting to change.
Same thing for teeth. My oldest was 11 1/2 months, second and third were 6 months and baby girl still doesn't have any.

i was wondering the same thing. my son is nowhere near talking yet. he has said mama twice but i think it was by accident

I think your son is a bit advanced. My 3yr old said his first word (Mama!) at 6 mos, but started using them regularly more like 8 -10mos I think. My 6 month old daughter babbles some, but don't think she's anywhere near ready to start speaking.

Baby Mikenzie is 6 months now, she says da-da whenever she sees her daddy walk in the room or when she wants his attention in the car.. It is sooooooo cute. Also she got her first tooth yesterday!! Her bottom right tooth.

Congratulation Christen, discovering new things is so great (no matter what time they appear) :) I have found out here that some speak at 6 month quite a lot already (up to 10 words), my boy dosent say anything jet, just practises vocals. As for the understanding, they understand a lot already they just dont know how (or dont want to yet) to speak, I think we have lots of time for that, no need to hurry;)

My daughter says dada all the time when she sees my fiance. And if i say it, she smiles and looks around for him. I dont think its an accident when she says it, i think she definetly knows what we are talking about!! :)
