My son just turned 1 on Aug. 30th, we introduced whole milk to him, for some reason he will take one or two sips and won't drink anymore after that. Is or has anyone else had this problem? i don't want his health to suffer because of inadequate milk supply to his body. Please help with suggestions on wat to do. I've tried mixing strawberry flavor in with it and it did not work.

my son will refuse his milk if its cold. we used to give him his formula either room temp. or warm so its the same with the cows milk and thats no matter how much he actually wants it.

I still give my daughter a bottle of formula at night just before bed. During the day I give her milk in her sippy (well the cups with straws). At first she wouldn't drink it. I tried adding a little chocolate syrup and she began to drink it, after a couple of weeks of that I quit putting the syrup in it and she is drinking the regular milk now. She doesn't drink quite as much as she is supposed to be, and that's why I am still giving her the formula at night.

Yeah, mix with formula. I did that starting at 11 months, and one day went to just milk. He made a face and stared at his bottle, but went on drinking. The bad thing is, he still likes it warmed!

i had this problem. i tried everything. i trued putting it in different cups, bottles. i tried adding flavours. i just kept giving it to her with meals and eventually she started drinking it again. i had to cut right down on the juice she drank and gave her milk instead until she started drinking it again and now she has a full botle of a night time and still has juice in the day

My daughter refused to drink milk also, until my Husband suggested warming it up a little to take the chill off it - and he was right, she will drink it then, but not cold straight from the fridge.

omg I thought I was alone. My son who just turned one also isn't loving them milk. I ended up buying the organic toddler formula, which thankfully was only $10 a can vs the $25 he used to use. I add some milkj and some water as some of you have suggested and that helps a tad. We have done the chocolate thing also a couple times-- we used Ovaltine-I guess I rationalized since it has vitamins! yeh, right it is loaded with sugar! He sin ot into his sippy cup so I am back to the bottle which has helped. I think the change from milk and the sippy cup was just too much- onle thing at a time. He also gets breast milk about half the day as well so I shouldn;t worry too much. Lord, how will I stop that-- it is time!!

My son actually doesn't drink out of an actual cup he drinks out of a strawed up. Which by his ped. is advanced but he refuses a sippy cup.

Are you giving him his milk in a bottle or cup? If you are giving him his milk in a cup stop and start giving it in a bottle. If your giving it in a bottle stop and start giving it in a cup. Sounds strange but sometimes if you start something new you have to introduce it in the source they are used to but sometimes you have to change it because it's a new thing. It all depends on the child. With my daughter i started milk in a cup because it was different. (when i gave it in a bottle she wouldn't accept it because she expected formula in it) With my son i started milk in a bottle for some reason he wanted to try his new milk in his new drinking source. Every child is different. BUT i don't suggest you give Chocolate milk. He won't ever drink white milk if you do. They will learn quickly that you can add it and they will try to demand it. I guess I'm not saying he will NEVER drink White it's just harder. If you worry while he gets used to milk (offer it at every meal and no alternatives for drink) give him yogurt and cheese to take up for what he's missing. My daughter was the same way. It took a while. Don't worry if it takes MONTHS they have to get used to it and realize your not giving up.

Everyone says that by the age of one your child should be drinking out of a cup but my little boy refused to drink milk from a cup! As far as he was concerened milk had been in a bottle accompanyed with a cuddle for the last year and he doesn't want to give that up! I'm with everyone else, put milk into other things he eats and mix it with formula until its all cows milk. Just remember if he has a varied balanced diet he wont be missing out on anything heath wise

ok, maybe I am the rebel of the group, but i just added a little bit of chocolate or strawberry syrup, ANd I mean a very little, after a while they would drink it without. i think it is cheaper than formula.

We also started by mixing the whole milk into his formula. Now he absolutely loves milk. It's almost like tricking them into liking it. If that doesn't work, don't get too frustrated. There are other foods to offer that provide calcium. Try yogurt and cheese and cottage cheese and broccoli.

One other thing you could try to "sneak" milk into his diet is using it to mix rice cereal/oatmeal. I started that a few weeks before his 1st birthday so I could slowly introduce milk to him.

Try mixing a little bit in with his formula, that's what i'm doing. I put 4oz of formula and 2 oz of milk. Eventually you should be able to cut the formula!

Good luck!
