my little girl has been getting formula all day long for about 2 months now. She still nurses to go to sleep at night. Most of my friends say that i need to ween her but i am not sure i can. Are any of you still nursing?

Why wean if you are happy? The nursing will be giving baby the added benefit of the protective antibodies unique to breastmilk which helps baby's immune system. And it is a lovely bonding time. FYI - fully breastfeed my 3 children until they self weaned at 4.5 years, 15mths and youngest is 2.5 years and still feeding. Do what you feel your are comfortable with.

There is no right or wrong on this. I started weaning my daughter at four months as she was showing interest in the food on my dinner plate. I still breastfed her until she was 9mths old and only stopped as i began to lose a lot of weight because i was still breastfeeding. Commonly health visitors and gp will say your child will let you know when they are ready. If you are nursing long periods of time with little time to rest between feeds, it may be time to start weaning.

I've exclusively breastfed and he is 4 1/2 months old. I breastfed until 4 months with my other two and am starting to think about switching him to formula. I always feed bad taking the boob away, but I don't want to nurse forever. I know lots of people who bf until a year or two, but I'm not just one of them. Do what you feel is right for you and your baby, don't make anyone push you into a decsion you might regret later. Make sure YOU decide what YOU want to do.

You don't need to wean her. There is no reason to unless you yourself wishes to. Its actually good for you and your baby to breastfeed for at least the first year. Why are your friends saying you need to wean?
I'm exclusively breastfeeding my 3 month old and intend on doing it until she self weans.

Do what you feel is right! I have a 3 month old and I am still primarily breast feeding. I actually just started pumping and introducing her to the bottle to gain some independence as breastfeeding is very demanding but also very rewarding. If you are ready to ween her then have dad start doing the night feedings. She may be very fussy but just be persistant she will be ok! Good luck to you and remember this should be your decision and nobody elses! Do what you feel is right for you and baby...

Experts say u shouldnt even think about weaning until 6 months of age! Have u tried the next step of formula milk for hungrier babys?? U can cause health problems weaning ur little one too early!!

Keep nursing.... of course as long as its something you and your baby wants. At 2 months old, the idea of weening shouldn't even come to mind. She's still an infant. Do what you feel is right, but definitely don't let peer pressure make your decision for you.

If you want to get some rest at night you could pump during the day and sleep at night (your husband could feed her)

I nurse primarily, but as long as you have a milk supply you can do both if you wish. There is no reason to ween her unless you want to quit nursing. If it comforts her at night and puts her to bed, I say stick with nursing.
