Are there any moms out there that have had preeclampsia pre or post pregnancy?

I am a mother of two beautiful children and I am very greatful for them both. I would really like to have a third child but I have experienced preeclampsia with both pregnancies. It was a mild case pre delivery with my daughter. With my son it was post pregnancy and I was put on a Mag drip. I was just wondering if anyone has gone through something similar but gone on to have more children.

Thanks for responding Leigh Ann. I am so glad that you and your children are healthy. I am pretty sure I will get it a third time I am just a little scared of the unknown.

I had it severely with my first pregnancy, which was also a twin pregnancy. My perinatologist said that I had a 10% chance of getting it with my second, and that hopefully I would be pretty far along if I did get it. At 32 weeks my BP started going up again, but that was the only symptom this time (my twins were delivered at 31 weeks because it was getting very bad). I was put on moderate "couch rest," and was able to hang on until I went into labor at 38 weeks. My OB said that since I got it in both pregnancies, my chances of getting it in a third are almost absolute. Good thing I am done!

And yes, the mag was AWFUL! I was on it twice with my twins, once to stop preterm labor at 30 weeks and then again a week later to control my BP during the c-section. I cried when they said they were going to put me on it again!

That is what my doctor told me too. And that I should expect a lot of bed rest. Thank you so much for answering.
And yes, the mag drip is like nothing I have ever experienced. It must have been 50* in my room just to keep me comfortable. LOL

I had it with my first and only. My understanding is that as long as they monitor you correctly, you should be ok. My own dr. told me theres no reason for me to not try and have more, just to expect it to likely happen again and be ready for it.

the mag drips SUCKS during labor doesn't it? I was burning up!
