Hi there!
My name is Kateryn and I am a student doula looking for births to attend. I have completed all of the theory schooling, scoring above 87% in every exam. I have 2 wonderful children of my own (involving 2 very different experiences). I work in Adelaide with my partner Emma, another to have completed her theory and attended one of my births. Together we offer support to expectant families through both pregnancy and birth. We also offer a post natal service for those that would like a little extra help getting started. Please contact me via e-mail on tummytimedoulas@gmail.com or send me a private message. I am happy to add you as a friend; my page will give you a good idea on who I am. Please leave me a message telling me who you are (I don’t tend to add people I don’t know). I am happy to give out my phone number to those interested. My partner and I are trained in all areas including pain relief, massage, relaxation techniques and birthing positions. I have many other skills to offer, such as breastfeeding support for those having trouble.
I have listed some information on doulas below
What is a Doula?
A doula is a woman who supports another woman during childbirth, "mothering the mother" by helping her with breathing patterns, massage, positive visualization, positioning, and reassurance.
Having a doula can lead to:
- 50% fewer cesareans
- 25% shorter labors with fewer complications
- 40% less use of pitocin (a labor-inducing drug)
- 60% fewer requests for epidural anesthesia
- Better success with breastfeeding
- Less postpartum depression
I will check this board frequently for replies. Hope you are all doing well!
Kind regards,
Kateryn
