Hi, my son is 1 on the 23rd December and has a lactose intolerance so is on lactose free formula. I am wanting to start giving him whole milk but not sure which milk I should give him? Anyone else have a lactose intolerant child? What have you given your child

Hiya
My twins are Lastose intolerant, and at one i tried them on cows milk, but their bodies still didnt agree with it,

they are now on soya milk with added calcium and vitamins and have been for 6 months, I was worried about them not getting enough calcium so i spoke to a dietcian and she said as long as they are taking 20oz of soya milk a day they are getting what they need, Also they are gaining weight from it as well.

Hope this helps

A lot of children at my work (I'm a child care proffesional) who are lactose intolerent use either A2, soy or rice milk. Children are prone to be allergic to soy so A2 or rice is your safest bet

I'd probably speak to your doctor. I know you can get tablets called Lact eeze from the chemist (sometimes they may have to order them in) that can help with intolerant people, but not sure if for kids. I read on the packet of my soy milk that it can be used for babies over 7 months but not as a whole food, only in cooking. 12 months onwards though should be fine going by it too to use as milk supplemented with food. But yeh I'd definitely check with your dr or a health care nurse.
