My profile picture is of a bear and her cub and it represents me and my baby boy as his nickname is Bear, he got this name for many reasons, he will stuff himself full like bear preparing for hybernation and then he will sleep a deep sleep like a bear in hybernation. He also grizzles like a grizley when he is unwell or tired and has leatley started to enjoy eating his fathers face.

What pet name do you have for your children and why?

My eldest, a 15 year old daughter called Lourdes Matilda, we call her Lo, Lola or Lol, sometimes call her Tills though.

My eldest boy, 14 year old Reed Otto, we call him Reedy usually, but when other kids were small he was 'Ree-ree'

My next oldest is Jude Harvey, 13. We call him Ju, Juje (joo-j) or Harves. But usually just Jude, since it is short enough anyway.

My 12 year old daughter, Marley Alabama usually goes by Marls or Bam Bam when she was little.

India Sage is 10 years old and generally goes by Indy/Indi/Indie.

My youngest, Tallulah Darcie is babied by everyone. We call her bubs a lot, or be-be (beh-beh) a because Indy couldn't quite get "baby". Other than that we usually call her Luls or Lula.

My 8 year old sons name is Reegon and he gets Reegs for short.

4 year old daughter is Matilda and she gets Tilly mainly, or Tilda, Tildi, Til etc. She has red curly hair that is wild and gets all sorts of stuff stuck in it, so she also gets called "Fluff Head"! haha She has also been known as "Red" by her Pop, not only cos of the red hair but the red M&M on the TV ads remind us of her, very cheeky!

1 year old daughter is Juliet, she gets called JZ (NOT her initials as her middle name is Piper) or Jaez for short. She had a back problem from birth and wouldn't lay down and was always crying. After a few weeks, everytime she cried my DH and I would say "Geez", that went to Jaez and then the Jaezee came, now it is mainly just JZ. It is mainly just DH the kids and I that call her this though, all other family members use her name.

my eldest is Bella and she gets that because her name is Isabella but she also gets 'Froggy' hubby came up with it because she used to put her legs either side of herself when sitting and jump up with her body.

my 3rd gets Bear or Claire bear, her name is Claire and it just kinda stuck, she also gets carebear and bear bear because her baby sister coudnt say claire bear and always came out as bear bear and care bear because the girls all have a carebear each and her bigger sisters just started calling her carebear.
my youngest dughter emilie gets emmy and em because of her name being emilie but she also gets moo, moo moo and moosie, i have no idea why but i just started calling her moo and its kinda stuck from there then moo moo and moosie just sorta followed, lol.

My daughter Mikayla who is now 6yrs had the nickname 'bug' or 'buggie' from birth. The name came from her being very small at birth and when we wrapped her up in her blanket she looked like a bug in a rug:)

Charlotte is 15 mths and she gets Charlotte Bunny, and Little Chicken from her Daddy. I find LaLa coming out of my mouth sometimes, short for Charlotte, but not really any shorter...and that'll probably stick. But she'll always be her Daddy's Little Charlotte Bunny.

When I was 1st pregnant my husband & I referred to our baby as 'peanut' and were able to keep it a secret for 9 weeks cos no-one knew what we were talking about. We even talked about the peanut on our wedding day without anyone getting suss.
We decided to find out the sex of our baby & at 19 weeks we named our little girl Sasha Grace.
She is now 6 months old and when she is tired she snuggles in like a cuddly little koala, earning her the nicknames Sashi Bear and Baby Bear.

My oldest is chook or jeffie and his pop calls him jed, when he was little we called him monkey because no matter how hard I tried to keep things out of his reach he climbed up to get them.

My youngest son Liam gets chicken and go go chicken or just go go from me he was so little and slightly yellow when he was born so little chicken just stuck and the go go came from his excitement level, the more excited the faster the legs go.

My husband called Jeff squirt cause he was so little born and Liam is Lamb chop or lamby for short

My little boys nickname is Tonk (Tonka Truck) as he is made as tough as they come! He was born at 27 weeks and had a rough start to life spending 12 weeks in NICU. But he just keeps getting stronger and stronger and defying all of the Drs expectations so he is out little Tonka. He is now 11 months old and you wouldnt even know he was Premmie if you saw him now!

We're a bit like you Christie, nicknames get used alot more around here than the real names. Including all the animals.

From the day he was born, my little man was called monkey pants. It just suited him, and still does. He also gets Mr Pants, Monkey Pantaloonies, Monk Monk, Monkey Moo and Bugs/Buggy (as in buggaluggs). I very very rarely refer to him by his name, which is Liam. Its pretty much Monkey Pants all the time, and its everyone that calls him that, not just me and the OH. I have to stop and think when people ask him name, to make sure i am going to say Liam and not Monkey Pants.

Our dog dosnt respond to her real name (Marli) and only comes to her nickname (MooMoo or Mooma). So I hope when Liam grows up he doesnt think his name is Monkey Pants :O

LOL but i just wonder will this be his nickname throughout school also... i guess we'll find out in years to come

My Daughter Nikki has a few Nicknames, but the ones I tend to use most atm is Turtle, this was because just after she was born my mother and sister and my two lil nephews went to the sydney zoo and bought back pics and I was showing my daughter and whe we came across the turtles she just went crazy. Second atm is bumble bee now real reason for that just thinks it's cute. But atm she gets called Bunni because she crawls around the floor making lil bunny noises which I think is absolutely gorgeous, it sounds likes she's blowing kisses only she's sucking in her bottom lip and tapping her top gum on it. So she's my lil Bunni atm.

Almost forgot she also get's Missy Moo Cow when she's grumpy. lol

My daughter Angelique only has Angel & mini kidman because she has the same hair as nicole kidman. my son branden has lots of nick names, some are: Buda because he was so big at birth and looked like one, nackers because of his last name (Wegrzyniak) & snappy tom for his cranky days

My husband calls our daughter, Serena; "Monkey-Bum", but most of the time she is just "Beanie" because our first ultrasound at 6wks, showed her looking like a baked bean. Our twins, Tane and Carver, 5months, have plenty of nicknames, usually "Big"and "Little", because it took 4 days for us to name them and just called them that until we decided. Although Tane, occassionally gets "man-boobs" because he is such a little fatty. a bit mean, but won't last forever!!

Brayden, my 12 month old gets called Fooks at the moment by his father and I. It started as Pookie Man, then it was shortened to Pookie, then Pooks and somehow it got morphed into Fooks. My parents call him Cheeky Man or sometimes they revert back to Pookie. My fiance's mother calls him Bubba-louie and I have no idea why. lol
He responds to all of the nicknames and thankfully it hasn't confused him, but we also have 4 different nicknames for our dog and Brayden knows all of those too.
I try and call him by his first name as much as possible but in our household (as you can probably tell), nicknames are used much more frequently.

Our son's nickname is Mr Chop. I would call him "cheeky chop", then my husband would say "That's MR Chop to you!" and it stuck. Sometimes it gets changed again to Choppy-Pop or Cheekada-Chopada or some other silly variation. We realised we hardly ever use his name and he was going to get confused at childcare when they actually called him Alexei! I try and make an effort to use his name at least 50% of the time now.
