I have a 7 year old son that has sever ADHD , PDD-NOS and mild MR-M . I have been running into some magger issues with him peeing in his bed at night and pooping in his pants drueing the day. I have tryed the sticker chart, treats and specail places during the days. I have tryed waking him up twice at night to go pee he goes but even at that he still wakes up really wet in his pull ups. I need some other suggestions please help me. Thanks so much Shannon

My son is 11 and is not potty trained with the pooping yet. I even took him to a children's specialty clinic in SLC. I think they gave up on us. He also has the Mega Colon (constipation) problem. He is on miralax and fiberone bars, I think worked better. I didn't tell him they were his new poop medicine. I have tried just about everything for the poop in the toilet. I even put a tv in my bathroom. Good luck!!

Our son is going to be 9 and has the same problems. Our specialist FINALLY sent us to a urologist. The urologist ordered a MRI to check for Spinabifida Occulta(sp?). Because that could be ruled out they have several other things we are trying that worked. We also tried waking him at night to no avail. The urologist said until we get the daytime regulated there was no point in working on night time. We have a watch from the bedwetting store that goes off ever 1 1/2 hours, so he know when it goes off he has to stop what he is doing and go in and use the bathroom. Also, he now eats 1 activia with 2 tsp of granola everymorning to help regulate his bowel movements. There is a pill he can be given or a patch if you prefer that is medication to help with the frequency of accidents. We've been doing all of this for just over 2 months now and he's only had 1 accident during the day since we started this and no BM accidents. Also last night was the first night he was DRY!

Have you tried "Miralax" If you give it consistantly for a week or so to begin, it really helped my daughter with her constipation. You can ask your doctor if they think it would help....Good Luck!

My son does drink lots but i have stoped giveing him drink two hours before bed and he still wakes up soked. He has never master the night time bed wetting and has constapation issues that cause him to hold it in cause it is pain full for him to go on the toilet so he goes in his underwear sometime through the day.I have already gotten him checked by specailist and they say his bladder is just over active because of constapation but no matter how much fiber or stool softeners i use he is still very constapated he gets that from me I have IBS and i am always constapated no matter what.

My Son is 19 so remembering what age he was when this happened is hard to remember. However, it took forever for me to get him to poo in the potty. I don't know if it is a sensory thing for him or if it is a control thing but I do know that one day he just stopped pooping in his pants and used the toilet. He still does no go as often as a normal male would go. I remember in his early teen years he would hold on so long that his poop was so large it would block the toilet. We did not have this issue with peeing the bed, but my daughter "normal" peed the bed until she was around 6 or 7. I was told that some kids sleep so soundly that they just do not wake up to the sensation of needing to go. It too just corrected itself, although I do remember restricting her liquids before bed.

Would you consider him potty trained or has he not mastered that skill yet? If he is potty trained and has gone back to not being potty trained than I would take him to his developmental specialist because he has regressed in his development (I also have a son with PDD and it took FOREVER to potty train him).

Does he drink alot? My son has alway drunk alot and I had a similar problem. I cut back on the amount of drinks he had about an hour before bedtime and used a surprize box reward system. I covered a shoe box with some fun paper and labelled it with his name (Simon's surprize box), if he had a dry pull up in the morning he got to look in the box, you can use it in the day too. You dont have to put large or expensive gifts inside, just a little something that he would like. Good luck! hugs :)
