My son was recently diagnosed with high functioning autism. We still have two steps before his "official" diagnosis comes through on June 18th. In preparation, we are reading everything we can to help us decide what treatments will be best for him. I recently discovered this book by Dr. Sabrina Freeman. I highly recommend it to everyone who is struggling to figure out what to do to help an ASD child.

In B.C., Canada, we get an autism team to help us decide but I want to be as informed as I can so I looked into what books are best in describing and evaluating all possible roads. This book looks specifically at the science behind the various treatments and which have actually been tested using the scientific method. This is so important as there is a LOT of misinformation and there are many unscrupulous people, organizations, and corportations who want to convince parents of ADS kids that we should spend our funding on their treatments but there is no evidence that their treatments work.

I really liked Dr. Herbert's book "The Autism Revolution", http://www.amazon.com/The-Autism-Revolut... It's easy to read and has practical advice on deciding what strategies to use with your child.
