Our daughter is 22 yrs old; she was only recently diagnosed with ASD; our biggest challenges presently with her, she also has developmental delays/special needs, include battles over foods (extremely picky and narrow choices) and wanting constant outside activities with friends, but in both continous confrontations, she is self-injurious after the activities are over. We are burning out as these behaviors have been constant for over 1 year now. Then we learned about behavior therapy and are nervous but worn out and needing HELP! Please let us know what your experiences have been and what to watch for etc.

Laura, thus far STAR, which I heard of after the others, does not accept Medicaid waiver funds. We may have to look into that if the therapy doesn't address sensory from that angle. Thanks for reading this; and also to a post long ago about my daughter's eyesight; how do we possibly figure out which treatments etc work for our specific young adult? That's all we'd be doing as person with autism and parents and no time left for her to be in work settings (job coached) etc. Thanks!

Have you tried Occupational Therapy?
You have the best resource right in your back yard :)
It's called the S.T.A.R. Center and it is a pioneer in sensory integration. Sounds like it would be excellent for your daughter! I wish I could bring my son.
