Hi, I was wondering how many people would be interested in purchasing an Autism Awareness bracelet, like the one on my default picture. I am gonna make these at my own cost. This is something that feel very strongly about: people need to get a better understanding of Autism so that our children, and future generations can be better accommodated. If you would like to have one, please let me know. The colors might be slightly different, as are all the children with autism. : ) I would like to make them as close to One-of-a-kind as I can. Please let me know if you are interested, and thank you : )

My son was diagnosed with PDD-NOS. Is it ok to say he has Autism? Nobody knows what PDD-NOS is... some think they know what autism is.
I would be interested in a bracelet either way.

hi my name theresa i have a 5 year old child who has autism and i think people should be more aware ive been chucked out of cafes and told to get off the bus because of my son i get told that he hasnt got autism he just spolit and needs a firm hand so i know what people can be like

This makes me SO cross for you!  We still have such a long way to go and so many incredibly ignorant people to deal with.  I have progressed from accepting the type of behaviour outlined above and just crying to telling those involved just how sorry I feel for them and their bigotted behaviour (but I still cry!!).  It feels great to make them realise how stupid they are; I also say it loudly enough for everyone to hear!  Stay strong, I still think there are more nice/accepting people than there are idiots!

People can be so damn ignorant sometimes! I'm soo sorry to hear that. People like that, make our lives, that are already challenging, just that much more difficult. I do, however, firmly believe in the saying "what goes around comes around" and they will get theirs. It just makes me want to carry  literature in my purse and hand it to people when they do stuff like that to parents and their children. I don't think that I have ever been asked to leave, but I get the little comments under the breath, the "bad parent" glares, so I know what you mean. That's what I'm talkin about about when I talk about raising awareness. Just because people hear the phrase, doesn't mean they are "aware" of all the things that go along with it. I really wish people would just enlighten themselves about this before making harsh comments and quick actions. Maybe THEY are the ones that need the firm hand : p

Hi Anneka

Like others have said....depending on the cost I would be very interested. The more people that have an understading of Autism then the easier life will be for our kids.

I would also be interested! My children are very special to me! Right now, I wear a lot of heart jewelry and share that it is an outward expression of the love I feel for them! Since it gets noticed...can't wait for people to ask me about the bracelet!

Okay everybody, I have a little more info for ya : ) I'm not sure how many people use paypal, but I honestly think this would be the best way to handle the payment situation, because you and I will both get a receipt. I am hoping to have enough money to get a HUGE order in on the 30th, so anyone else that would like one please let me know, and I can add you to my list : ) I'm soo excited about how well this is going! I never thought it would go so well toward promoting awareness! YAY!! GO US!! : p

Thank you very much Justine. I am very glad to be doing this as well. I just wish that people could stop seeing this as some affliction and truly understand and see the beauty that are inside these children. Just because they can be a little challenging to figure out sometimes, and CAN sometimes make a parent feel inferior : ) My son is very smart, and can pull one over on me without me realizing it until later, if ever. Anyhow I think it is important that people realize that autism is can be a way to challenge people's humanity. You can spend 5 minutes with someone around your child and know a LOT about that person's character (patience, understanding, compassion, open-mindedness, etc.) Anyways, I hope this makes even the smallest difference to raise awareness : )

depending on cost, I would be VERY interested. I like the individuality idea. I like the puzzle pieces going around the bracelet. I saw another bracelet with only one puzzle piece, it just did not really appeal to me.

Hi Melanie, I've seen those too, and they haven't ever really appealed to me. I seen this idea on one of my favorite "ideas" websites and LOVED it!! I plan on making one for me also.  I also really like the fact that you can change it around (the shape of the pieces, the color of the crystals, etc.) I love making jewelry, it's one of my passions in life. This is a perfect idea to bring two of my passions together! : ) When I get some made, I'll post them on my site, which is www.myspace.com/annekahck and let you guys know. : ) I'm really excited about doing this, I can't wait to see how all of them turn out, since they will each be slightly different!

Oh, and by the way, they are made from Sterling Silver and Swarovski Crystals so that contributes to the price : )

Well, it's gonna cost $22 to make and ship them, so that's what I'm charging. I have decided to make them at MY cost and make $0 profit, because it's very important to me to do this : ) Makes me feel all fuzzy inside too : p Anyways, if you would still like to have one, please let me know. I can order the stuff on the first and should have them made and shipped out by the 4th at the latest.
