Joyce,

I do beleive that being a pastors wife is more preasure. You will always be expected to be the perfect role model. I have had people ask me why I don't dicipline my son, but when we are in a store & the stong floresent lighting or smells are two much for him, he will start to hit because this is actually painful for there bodies and it tends to come out in behavior.I don't take him to the store very often because of this. There are diferent things that can help with autism, what are some of your struggles? I can try to help.

God Bless

Michelle

Joyce, I am a Pastor's wife and have a son who has Asperger's. It can be very hard. Especially when we have visitors to the Church on Sunday morning and my little guy is acting out. They just think its a stereo-typical pastor's kid...spoiled and a bratt. (At least this is what I have been told) I have been blessed with our current congregation, most of them are understanding and are very supportive when I have to run out the door to catch him because somebody had me distracted. I have also had someone tell me (and I'm not joking, this is very close to word-for-word what they said) "I have a friend with a retard. They have three kids. They beat the retard just like the other two so that the other two won't feel like he gets away with stuff." --How does a one respond to that, then remember I'm a Pastor's wife? There are just certain expectations with being a Pastor's wife. I may be off base in your plight, just sharing mine. If I can be of support to you, please let me know. Good luck and I'll be praying for you.

My son is Autistic.
It affects a wide range of individuals..I'm not sure why a specific profession is relevant. Being a person of a specific religion shouldn't, and doesn't, exempt that person from struggles. I'm confused by your title. Do you feel that, because of your beliefs, you and your family should be protected from Autism?
