Has anyone had the chance to use the dynavox maestro? If so can you provide me with some feedback on your experience?

I have found the iPad to be very light and portable. It is easy for both of my kids to use. My son is able to have email, photos and iPod all in one device. The apps are cheap and there are tons of them. The Tango! which was $6500 vs an iPad for $499. We paid $525 for the warranty yearly for the Tango! So right there it is cost effective. It is also more socially appropriate. He doesn't get the stares that he does with his Tango! Believe me that is not why we went with the iPad. People can stare all they want! I have found a case that works well and also a carry case for over the shoulder. I also have an iPhone so all the apps that are compatible with the iPad can go on my phone, which is great. Especially if you go somewhere where carrying an iPad around is too much I can give him my phone or he can carry it with him.

Hi Shonda,
I have not used the Dynavox Maestro. We use the Tango! and an iPad. I would recommend looking into an iPad. That is what we ended up doing. For the cost of the warranty you could buy a new iPad every year. There are a ton of apps you can get at very reasonable prices. We paid over $6500 for the Tango! and it is a great device but the iPad is so much more, for a lot less. My son is 9 years old and uses Speak it! to type what he would like to say and it says it for him. he loves it. He also has apps that are very similar to PECS. Check out the apple apps store. It might be worth it. Just my 2 cents!
