my 5 year old son cameron was just diagnosed last year. at first they diagnosed him with aspbergers and then when i took him to valley mountan regonal center they said that he is further up the spectrum than that. his doctor also put him on concerta at that time for ADHA. he has started to drop weight. the doctor has determined that it has nothing to do with his meds because it was happening before she put him on the concerta. he weighed 46 pounds at the end of this last school year and he has continued to drop weight to where now he weighs 40 pounds. he is eating like he should be but despite that he can't seem to gain weight. have any of you had this problem? does anyone have any advice/suggestions on what to feed him that will help him start gainign weight? any family home remidies? any help you guys can give me would be great. thanks

Not sure if your son is on a special diet, but if he is allowed to have milk of any kind, I do have advice. My 6 year old daughter has Asperger's and eats very little, so with her developmental pediatrician's approval, I give her carnation instant breakfast drinks twice a day to supplement her diet. She has gained some weight just from adding this. I buy the packets. You can get them at Costco in bulk. They have so many vitamins and nutrients, and my sister, who is a nurse practicioner says they give them to children in the hospital who can't eat. We mix them with regular cow's milk, but I suppose you could mix them with any type of milk if allergies are an issue. Hope this helps! =)

my son has lost alot of weight too. His doctor put him on 2 pedisure milkshakes a day for a month..he only gained a half an ounce. Maybe it will work better for you..Problem was I had to then break Sam of the "only" milkshakes diet which took their toll.
