i work abroad and left my 10month old baby to my brother and his wife.i knew my son does not have autism Ive seen here the sign for toddlers so i knew he does not have autism, and he responded well that time just like a normal baby...i return to my country when he was 3.still he doesn't talk, only knew few words back then..now his 4 he speaks but not that detailed i ignored cause i think his a late bloomer also or maybe his an early walker that's why his late for speaking.but sometimes i'm staring at him and observing how he plays always repeating and making even sound effects for the cars and air planes like bomb explosion..and fascinated to cartoons that hes watching copying over and over when he was playing, and then that time i thought maybe his just being imaginative..and then i ignore.when we go to his pedia to do his check up's his always crying because maybe he think every time im here their hurting me (vaccine) but when the doctor try to play with him the doctor said to me 'your son has no focused and have some delays would you like to try to consult for developmental therapist' (is that correct?) correct me if im wrong..and then i said no hes just like that when were together his okay i tell the doctor..maybe im just in-denial and of-course i don't want even to think that there's something wrong with my child. and then i didn't take it seriously, when i call him he looks at me when i asks him to get something for me like for example broom, dustpan he understands and then he will follow.and has eye contact knows alphabet, knows how to count even if the numbers are jumbled..but as the days weeks goes by i realized i think yeah i noticed now that something different with my son, because last week my sisters husband had their friends at the house and someone there is a teacher for speech therapy my son starts playing with her, im shock because when some friend comes over his shy to inter acts with adult, but on children his playing, still not talking clearly. but now his routines changed we don't go out that much always me and him..sometimes im busy doing chores and his left alone playing alone, now i noticed, he listens to me,but then continue playing no hands flapping but plays with index finger near to his eyes pretend its an airplane with matching sounds, playing with cars puts on the floor or table moving it but over and over,he eats only what he wants like eggs, breads and hot dogs and dependent on milk, has tantrums when he didn't find his favorite toys. when in front of people i say son talk clearly, and then he will just mumble words playing with it and then play again.he responds, but then on, back on what he was doing quickly on playing.but i red some of the signs also that has no sympathy or cold.but my sister has son whose 6 month old he always greet him ''hello jacob'' plays with Jacobs hands and kiss him on the shoulder cause i told him not on the lips.and when i was crying he said mommy cry?with a sad voice..thats why im in-denial..im really worried when he was playing repeating always and a late talker.the teacher (speech therapist) tell my sister that my son has some signs for autism better to go to the doctor for that and ask opinion. she said but i noticed that ram (my son's name) has a chance to be better quickly because his responding..but i want to know your comments mom's because at first i think maybe its only ADD cause his sometimes hyper running but not in circles, i need help i want to help my son while were not yet in session..

The first thing you can do, is get him evaluated. I know you're reluctant to do so. But honestly that's the best way to get to the root of what's going on with your son. And knowing is half the battle. Then you can get proper help, tailored to his specific needs. Maybe it ends up being just a delay, or ADD. And perhaps he's somewhere on the spectrum. At this point no one knows for sure. But I promise you it can't hurt to get him checked out. It will only help him.

Honestly, he could just have a delay, or he could have some form of autism. If he does, it isn't the end of the world. I promise.

In fact, knowing for sure can qualify him for therapies and early interventions that will only benefit him in the future, and help him be higher functioning. And that the doctor suggested a proper evaluation does say something.

Good luck!
