hi what help is there for an 17 year old autistic adhd boy, lost now as he refuses every thing.

Do you plan on taking guardianship when he is 18? There is help out there. Your local autism chapter, autism speaks, meetup.com may have some support groups depending on where you live......get him into therapy ASAP, don't wait. I'm assuming the refusal to do everything is because he's not taking his meds.



I hate to say this but you can have him forced to. Admit him and they will adjust his meds and MAKE him take them. Then when he's stable they'll release him. I don't know that you have any other options at this point. He will soon be an adult, and then what? Time is running short.





ETA: Contact Early Intervention too.

refusing to go back to school taking medication. so angry with everyone won,t bath so big now over 6ft tall. making my life hell, following me up stairs just doing what he wants. any help would be great. social workers etc don,t know what to do with him.

What does he refuse? Meds? Eating? Do you have a therapist?
