hi ,

my toddler of 2yr 7months havent start talkng yet, and i was really worried so i asked his PD a number of times in regards to this but they told me it'll be better if i brought him to a speech therapist. when i finally plucked up the courage to ask the PDs if this is related to autism, both couldnt really give me an answer. one of them said he doesnt seem to be autistic judging the way he behaved when he was at her office. so i brought him to a speech therapist and she assessed him. However she told me its a borderline actually to define a child whether or not he or she is autistic. and she recommended me to bring him to see an occupation therapist. i mean, as a mother this is really stressful cos if i dont know what is the problem i cannot help my child. can somebody advice me?

the only problem my son has i he isnt talking.. but recently he just started saying "i dont wan" . and he do enjoy self spinning. thats all.

If he understands, then the language delay isn't so bad. My son barely uttered a word until he was 4, and then it was a flood of talking, all the time. Including words that's out of the purview of most kids that age.

Is there any other symptoms you observe? Beyond the lack of talking, and the spinning that is. Spinning is also pretty normal for toddlers. Neurotypical ones, and otherwise. It feels good, or something.

hi rose, yes he does. and his teacher says he understands too but he just wont talk. and when he wants something he comes over and takes my hand and points to what he wants that he cant reach to get me to give it to him. if i dont , which i tried, he will start whining and if i still wont budge, he will start crying and throwing his tantrums.....

Does your son understand what you say to him and respond appropriately? Well, non-verbal response that is.

Hi,
A SLP or a OT can't diagnose anything.
Have you been to a developmental pediatrician?
What state are you in?
Have you had a eval through early intervention?
If he does have delays then he can start pre school when he is 3
