My 6 year old still has issues with personal hygiene.
He has been through early intervention and he is now at school and doing school things. I find that he is struggling to care for himself. He is very fussy and can retaliate (sometimes hurting those around him and himself) when it comes to helping him to blow and wipe his nose and other areas. I have used picture stories to help guide him on how to wipe his bottom properly and how to wipe his nose and blow, but I dont think they are really working at all. Has any one got some advice on what I should do???

I still help my 8yo with his nose. He can blow it but never does a good job without help. With the butt I got flushable wipes, which encouraged my kid to actually wipe, explained how bad an infection can get if he doesn't wipe, and pointed out that might mean he would need shots/needles in the butt. And he realized on his own that if not wiped properly it can get itchy and a bit sore. He doesn't like that. Give it time. It's only been about a year for us since it's fully sunk in.
