My 2 year old daughter has been diagnosed with disruptive behavior disorder, SID, Developmental disorder, and Speech disorder both expressive and Receptive?? I really am starting to think that the only thing they are going to be able to daignose her with are disorders and dysfunctions? My daughter has AWESOME eye contact. That is what is holding back from a daignosis. Her developmental Peditrician says that she thinkgs it is ASD, I have also heard PDD and MR from the theropists and other docters that are involved? She just started getting daignosed about 5 months ago? I was just wondering if that was a long time to not have a full diagnosis. She gets therapy 3 times a week. Speech and OT and she has an EI that comes to our home and works with us once a week? Are we on the right track? And also is there any way to get her behavioral therapy at 2? She needs it horribly and I am having a hard time gettting help because she is so young, And does it help when they are this young? Thank you for your time in reading this and ANY info would great !

We started the ball rolling when our son was 2, starting with a speech pathologist who told us her thoughts and reffered us to a paed, we didnt think he had autism, but after doing some reading my husband and i now believe he does have autism, and have been trying to get him assessed for some time, all this has been going on for about 6 months or more and we still do not know when he will get assessed even though we have been telling our paed that we want it done. I am really starting to think doctors and paeds are useless when it comes to Autism (with the exception of DAN! Drs, I have not seen one but just based on what i have heard and read), so having said that, we started doing things for our son off our own backs, we started the gfcf diet about 3 months ago, it was really hard at first but got easier after about 2 weeks and we are seeing some improvement. I am determined to do as much as I can myself with or without the help of our so called medical proffessionals.

My daughter got her diagnosis of PDD-NOS at 2 years and 6 months. She has excellent eye contact. In fact if she can't see you she will throw a fit. She has Autism I have pushed to get an evaluation and when I finally did I got PDD-NOS. Her Dr. and I think shes has Aspergers. However she could be evaluated for that until she was 3. We now have an appointment scheduled in Jan. to have that done. My daughter now gets therapy 4 times a week for speech, OT, and behavioral. We get all of our therapy through Early Intervention. Alot of people I talk to are shocked that we even have this diagnosis at 2 years of age. All I can say is listen to your heart and don't give up. I'm not, PDD-NOS and Aspergers are both ASD's, But I feel like I need her to have the right diagnosis.
