Hi, everyone I just wanted to take a quick second and introduce myself. My name is Marci and i live in Southern California with my hubby of 9 years and two wonderful kids.
Neither of my daughters has Autism, Asperger's or PDD but I have a brother who does. He is 12 years younger than I am, I'm from a big family there are 9 of us total I am the oldest and only girl. Anyway, I remember a lot about dealing with him, he is high functioning autistic. Because I was the oldest a lot was expected of me to help out either with the others or with him. I love them all so much, but he has a specia.l little place in my heart.
It's hard for me to believe that my little baby brother is almost 19, where does the time go? I moved out to Southern California when I got married, my husband could not find a job in Pennsylvania where my family is. It broke my heart to leave them all, but it has been 9 years and we still talk on the phone almost everyday.
My brother, Austin, the one with Autism will actually get a chance to come live with my family here in CA for 1-2 years while he serves a service mission for our church. (We are LDS) Because of his autism he will not be serving a regular mission but will instead do service during the day and come back to our home. I am so excited but a little nervous. I mean he's 19 and I don't want to be "the mom" but there are things that I will have to keep reminding him of daily.
I hope that everyone is having a good day!
