Hey everyone! SO my oldest son is 27 months old now!

H doesnt talk. He doesnt listen to me! and sometimes complatley ignores me!

He often walks on his tip toes ana spins around.. Or push a chear near the couch and jumps into the couch from the chear. And when he start doin it he ant stop!

He is friendly with other kids, but he hates if someone is touching his stuff! (toys ectc)

He gets these tantrums from nothing really and than he screams and cry!

If the toy doest stay in the place where he puts it(like a ball or somethin) he goes screaming and biting the toy!!

We went to public healt nurs and she sent him to chek ups but the waiting list is awful big!

I just want to know faster so i can try to help him!

What do you think! Is he autistic?

Thanx already!

How long is the wait list? Can you get an independent evaluation? The children's hospital here will do evaluations on a sliding scale to get some kids seen earlier than health can get through their backlog.

Reason I say, if he's 27 months and the waiting list is a year by the time they screen him he'll be out of early intervention. It is the dirty little secret. My doctor kept saying, she's fine, she's fine, until she was 3 and then, oh well, you'll have to have the schools deal because EI only goes up to age 3!

Some things you describe could be, autism, or it could also be ADHD (hyperactivity) or there could be sensory issues without it being autism, but all of them are better if started early.

Alisha- hearing was the first thing i did too!! And his hearing is perfect! Yes my little one freaks out watching home alone! He just runs outta room and than slowly comes back in!

Im Living in Ireland so fr us everything goes true public health nurse ans she makes all the appointments and stuff! But the waiting list is massive! I just hate to wait because everywhere i read about autism they say the faster you discover the bigger chance is that the baby will have a normal life!! Im just awful worried! :(

Is there an Early Intervention program in your area? My son will be 3 in August, he shows the signs and I am having him seen end of May by a develomental specialist. I am on the way to knowing soon but I get a lot of support and help through early intervention. I take Thomas there once every week and he gets to spend time with a speech therapist and occupational therapist. Cost nothing and it is helpful to have opinions from ppl that understand. My son also has no words just babbles sometimes I hear mom but it is never directed and he also ignores me almost all the time. I actually had his hearing tested when I started early intervention b/c I thought it was b/c he couldnt hear me, but he passed then I went and saw an ENT thinking well there could be fluid behind the eardrum and nope he passed that too. So my next step is a developmental specialist and I am kind of glad I got a couple months yet b/c I have to prepare myself too. I want to make sure I have all the questions I need to know and write everyhing down that I am concerned about. To answer your question.....I do nnot know? I am by far no expert but my son does some of the same things yours does such as not listening and tip toes, spins with objects a lot, also there is some sensitivity to parts of tv shows he watches where he will just freak out. Anyways if you ever want to vent it out send me a message! Good Luck!!!
