My son is Severly Autistic, he too played with his poop. He would also tear things up, get my laundrey soap, shampoo, dish soap, what ever would pour out of a bottle), and pour it out on his bedroom floor. I found out that he has Sensory Intergration Disfunction
He is either under stimulated and at times over stimulated. His senses are magnified, ex. touch, smell, feel, and hearing. He doesn't find some smells offensive like we do. It sounds to me like your son could use a sensory diet. Try getting a soft brush (I used a surgical brush, now I use my finger nails) lightly brush his back, legs, and arms only. You can also do joint compressions. Something else that is helpful is a weighted vest, blanket, etc. It should be 10% of his body weight, an Occupational Therapist can help you with this. There is also a good book about this called the "Out Of Sinc Child" It is very helpful, as it tells some of the signs of this. There is a very fine line between Autism and S.I.D. I would suggest you start there. My son is now 13 and we still have some a lot of sensory issues, but not like before. Good Luck
