I am total lost on where I should go to find out exactly where my son is on the scale for autism. He was diagnosed in a hospital stay 2 years ago and they just said he was on the scale. I've known since birth he wouldn't be normal as he died 3 times and is missing the main vein connecting his brain together, so left controls left side, right controls right side. I am from Rockford, IL so I don't know if that makes the difference in services and the school would never test him but for adhd.

I have gone thru a lot of doctors with him and not one has said autism. It wasn't until he was in a hospital stay for harming hisself that the doctor said autism. I contacted Easter's seals today, to see what further testing I can do for him.

He goes to a therapy day school now but public school only tested him for adhd. He's on summer break now.

I am in new york i don't know how they do things in rockford but the pediatrician should have told you about early intervention.

I was told by a doctor from the hospital he had autism. None of his regular doctors have wanted to test him either. Believe me I have gone thru a lot of them as I haven't until now found one that will actually listen to my concerns with him being special needs. His first peditrican told me he was fine when he wasn't trying to lift his head at 1 month old like normal newborns do. When at 2 months all he was doing was sleeping and eating and the doctor was still telling me he was fine I found another doctor along with specialist for him.

I'm not sure how it works abroad but here in the UK after my health visitor said he was on the spectrum my son was referred do a specialist paediatrition who sent him to other specialists for tests and reviews then they all came together and gave me a diagnosis.

I hope this helps.
