My daughter was just diagnosed in July. She is still going through the full workup. Some of her blood work as came back. The nurse called and said that her Amino Acids were out of range. She said she will not give me anymore information until the unrine tests come back. So as any mother would be, i'm a little worried. my question is this: "Does anyone know if Amino Acids have any connection with Autism?"

Well she had an EEG which showed disorganized activity for her age, MRI was normal and a 23 hour EEG is scheduled for the 16th. Still no tests results.

The urine test could show a metabolic disorder that may affect brain function that presents like autism.... but is not. The doctor must rule out a metabolic disorder (metabolic tests with blood and urine) or neurological disorder (with MRI, EEG) before diagnosing your child with autism.

I am a mother of an adult with autism. He was diagnosed at 13 even though the autism set in around the age of two. The one thing I want to stress is to avoid drugs completely. A good DAN doctor will direct you with good nutrition. A good nutrition response tester will have more vital information. We did not gain good ground until we began a seaweed supplement that is the most nutrient dense plant available to man at this time. It will cross the blood brain barrier and allow the brain to heal as well as the digestive tract. Drugs will bring more harm and the harm could be irreversible.

aww okay i still haven't heard of that my 11 yr old didn't have to go through that i wonder if i should bring that up to the doctor to see if that would be helpful to figure out what exactly may have caused it

She has already had all the developental and adolf test. She was diagnosed before the order of blood and urine. The nurse said that they are looking for flags that maybe other autistic children have to try to find causes.

i don't know for sure if it is or not, that is a first that i heard of doing blood and urine test on a kid to determine autism.. demand that they tell you all the results cause u have the right to find out what is going on without having all the tests in.

Have you already had a developmental test done? That's really where you see the true red flags for autism. The ones my friend's kids have had done are the Vineland, the Adolf, and a few other research based tests. Her youngest is in the mild to moderate category of autism and just started reigorous therapy.

I don't know but I have an apt with a DAN doctor next week so I will ask for you. You can demand answer though. they don't have the right to withhold medical info from you. I'm telling you that as a health care provider not a parent of a child with autism. You can demand answer right now if you don't want to wait.
