Hello everyone
Just wanted to write a quick note express my joy. My son who is 5 with ASD finally went pee pee on the potty. We have been struggling with potty training for awhile now and finally 2 days ago he did it!!!!
I actually started to cry I was so proud. Marten was beside himself. I have never seen a bigger smile on his face. He looked at me and said "I am a real big boy now!"
It wasn't that he didn't understand the idea of potty training and going to the bathroom. Marten was just really afraid. A well meaning family member tried to train him when he wasn't ready and didn't tell us that this was her intention (we went away). Anyway long story short, since that day he has been afraid to use the bathroom.
Fast forward 3 years later and here we are! One very proud Mommy and one very proud BIG BOY.
