Hi gang,

I've been a bit absent lately digging in for the summer vacation. Billy's home all summer, but he's attending a communication camp half-days for two weeks starting next week. We're going to tackle potty training, sleeping problems and handwriting this summer. A bit more about our prep -- and my "contract with Billy" -- is on my blog:

(I would just post everything here, but there are images that I don't think I can post here -- or I'm just too technically illiterate to figure it out.)

All input -- particularly about potty training/sleeping -- would be greatly appreciated. If you leave a comment on the blog, then all moms who have subscribed to that conversation can benefit from your advice.

Thanks so much,

Amanda

Hey Amanda, long time no see! [Me too. *shuffle*]

Callum has been potty training for-ever (in case you've forgotten). Recently, I was going through his old cloth diapers to sell and he became interested. I managed to convince him that pull-ups are baby diapers, just like clothies, and that big kids only wear underwear. I showed him on the UnderJams box where it says it's for overnights. All of a sudden, he's in underwear all day every day with no accidents. If he refuses to go when it's time, I happily offer him a cloth diaper and he runs right in there. We started public-pottying at the grocery store so that I could bribe him with any treat he wanted. When we're at home, he gets to pick 2 M&Ms for #1 and 3 for #2, so if he does both he can get 5.

There is something that will make potty training click for Billy. He has all of the information, and one of these days it will happen! Believe me, because I didn't believe anyone else who told me. lol

Potty training -- my 3 year old daughter has been working on potty training over the last few weeks, and it has been REMARKABLY easy. For the record, she initiated this, which has a lot to do with it. They did most of the work at her school and I just kept it going at home. She is fully urine trained in less than 2 weeks (daytime only -- nighttime will take a little longer). Here's the website explaining the technique they used -- http://www.nationalautismresources.com/a... -- I've bookmarked it for when her twin is ready to start training. At this point he's not showing any signs of readiness so we're just leaving it be.

Good luck with everything!!!!!
