I have been on here a week or more & try to reply any post I can, to share my experience with that situation. I was shocked reading the other parents advice after posting mine & seeing how we have all been there done that. My answers were so similar to the others. It made me feel better.My husband & I are usually all alone with all the battles, yeah ppl listen but no one knows what to tell me. Its been a long road of trail & error & listening to my feelings to get this far & he is only 7! I just want to say thank you for being good moms & helping each other...corny I know...lol Eileen

not corny at all, eileen. Research done by the Beach Center shows that parent to parent support is extremely effective in helping families deal with all the issues we face as parents of kids with special needs. Many states have organized parent to parent organizations that provide training, support groups and much more - in CO we have a Parent to Parent listserv of over 1300 parents who write and share all kinds of support, resources and everything else. You can find your parent organization by going to www.nichcy.org, click on state resources and then on your state and then on Parent Organizations. I have found being part of the parent to parent group invaluable - I've met so many great people who have helped me just by sharing in my experiences and making them feel like a normal life, not unusual and different. It has helped me so much when facing my own daughter's issues.

Hi Eileen, I was very surprised when I first realised that there were others like us, that we had experienced similar things, and that there are people, other than my parents, who understand.
