Hello ladies,
I am just wondering if you have tried diet techniques to help your child with Autism. My husband and I are doing some research to limit some food that create negative influences with our sons (age 3.5) Autism.
We've read things like ketchup, and dyes, and MSG. We can't afford to go all organic, but are looking for suggestion of certain foods you've felt helped your child's Autistic condition, once you've stopped providing it.

Any information will be helpful.
Danielle.

It all depends on the meds that your child is on as well. My son now is 14 yrs. ole and I don't even know sometimes that he is in the house, so when he is home and not gone with the respite worker, and he is up stairs, I am always every 5 mintues calling out to him upstairs and asking him to what he is doing and he just says that he is on the comp, so just to ease my mind, Gerard goes up at the top of the stairs and sure enough he is at the comp. making up his stories, I just say that he is getting things off of his mind. As for the choccolate, the only time that Jordon sees this is on holidays and he is not a type of child for junk food of any sore for no matter to how much or to whatever is in the house, he don`t care for it, as long as he has his diet-pepsi, and he is all set. Any type of juice that you give your child, pour it half in the jug, and fill the rest of the way with water.

chocolate, is the worst for us, altough caffine of any type, is bad, but basically anything you would avoid giving a child with add or adhd, but ultimately removing these foods will only stop the outbursts caused by the consumption of the food at the time. it won't stop the outbursts on one of his bad days. food techniques arn't a cure but they do limit environmetal causes of outbursts. I've also heard gluten can cause simmilar problems. Ultimately te idea is to avoid overly processed foods, and leave more fresh ingrdients to help keep their vitamin and mineral levels ballanced. or at least that is my understanding. if you are looking for info on this at a very basic level the series' that Jamie Oliver does on school dinners in the uk usa and australia do have segments on add and adhd and food.
