My 3 year old son who has mild autism is obsessed with the planets and the solar system. He also loves letters, numbers, fish, clothes, cars,legos, trains, the river/beach water in general, BRIDGES and went through an emotion stage (which was pretty exciting). He spells words and wants to know what words are in spanish. He also puts random letters together and says its spanish and makes up weird words LOL. He enjoys reading Caillou books at night or his english/spanish dictionary.

vehicles, cars, trucks, bikes, anything with wheels. He's absolute fanatic obsession is with firetrucks. He can take toy cars apart and put them back together he absolutely loves transformers and if a car doesn't have moving parts it will by the time he's done with it lol. Best I can describe it he's infatuated with them, the sounds, the details external and internal, the way they move its insane.

Ceiling fans and all things that move in a circular motion. The ceiling fan obsession started early. My son is now 2 1/2 and his interests have broadened but it can easily go back to the ceiling fan. We try to redirect when things become an obsession but with an autistic child you can only practice so much tough love and then sometimes you give in and indulge.

My son has PDD and ADHD he loves to climb on everything and he loves Spiderman it is all about Spiderman and has been since he was 2. His dad does not think there is anything wrong what so ever and think it is all normal. He gets mad easily but regardless of him being on the spectrum I love him no matter what, I know he is different and that makes me love him even more. he is good with computers my fiance does that for a living and my son watches and 2 secs later he can repeat what he has seen.

my jacob has to everything just right almost like he has ocd and numbers always wants to do math facts and when jacob first started talking he made his own words up for everything so it was a little nerve racking at first but as he got older it got better he is now 7 and in speech therapy

My 3 year old autistic disorder daughter loves strings, or beads. She prefers beads, and shakes them to hear the noise. If allowed, she would stim this way for most of the day, stopping only to eat or drink, and maybe sleep. When we first started suspecting she was autistic, before 1 year, she would lay in the floor under the ceiling fan, and bring her hands together and flap them. Her entire body would go rigid, and she would grunt. She is still fascinated with spinning objects, and loves to swing. Bubbles are magical at our house! She also has a lot of oral stim, she used to have a passy, now suckers are in high demand. She loves music, and sings all the time. If her therapist counted the songs she sings all the time in her vocabulary, she would have much larger numbers. She does speak, but prefers to sing nursery rhymes rather than converse with us. She can give simple answers, and simple requests.

First of all I have to say, these are all gorgeous! My 13 year old (aspergers) loves anything starwars, superhero, video games.

My 4 year old (Autism) is obsessed with music equipment ie/microhones, amplifiers, speakers, guitars. His Dad is an entertainer so he can set up the enitre PA system himself, knows what piece is missing. And although her does not speak, as yeat, he can sing in tune, in beat, with Dr Hook, Keith Urban and Michael Buble being a specialty. HAha

My son is 2 1/2 years old and LOVES you tube train video's!!! He turns the computer on, goes to internet explorer, favorites, then trains! He will then click away and go too any train video possible. Of course I only give him 1 hour a day. Also loves books, and cars. RIght now his new word is TREE. Everything from grass too tree is a tree...:)

My 3yr old Aspie s obsession is cd s and water/liquid he has to have a non spill cup cause he tips it out to watch the fluid drop then stares at the puddle it makes and it doesnt matter where we are even in the car...

My child's obession is DIY wants to which TV programmes and is not happy with the toy tools he wants the real things(he is only 6) his favourite shopping trip is to the hardware store thats where he is so happy knows all types of tools and what they do.He knows that much about DIY men think its so cute

My DS is obsessed with Tractors! John Deere mainly, but anything tractor is a winner for him! He watches tractor videos, has tractor books, tractor toys, etc. You get the picture. Tonight he went to bed with a yellow sprinkler. You might be asking yourself what that has to do with tractors, but if you know anything about John Deere you know that they are YELLOW and green. Yes, that's right folks, it's a "John Deere sprinkler"! Hence the reason he had to take it to bed with him. Grass, by the way is green meaning it is "John Deere grass". LOL! The things his obsession trickles into are endless and mind-boggling. Sometimes (if he sees it) he has meltdowns when we drive by a John Deere dealership or when he sees lawn tractors outside Lowe's.

I have three children with autism my oldest 6 has asked me the same question evryday sence he was 1 "what would happen if i wen to space" I am about out of anwers. He also loves trains and space of course. My daughter is 2 and is highly absessed with water. My youngest son is also 2 (they are twins) loves to line things up and count them .He dosent have much spontanious words but numbers he can do.

My son gets obsessed with his fantasy books. Starting in gr. 3, he read Harry Potter for about 2 years, then took a break and went on a Calvin and Hobbes kick (every photo of him during this phase was a "calvin"face), and is now hooked on the Percy Jackson novels, and the newest book by the same author. He is also hooked on Pokemon (for years now).

My son builds cities and makes signs about rules they are everywhere... He likes the movie UP he wants to be the old man... when he falls or gets hurt he says he poped a hit like the old man and request a cane... we made him one is very funny and cute

First, it is good to see that so many of your children are like mine and that, though they have obsessions, the obsessions do change. I have sometimes wondered about my son's diagnosis because he hasn't stay obsessed by only one thing since he was little. My son is enthralled by monkies. He loves anything to do with a monkey. He also loves Bakugan and super heroes of any kind. He enjoys music, if not too loud, and enjoys church.

Ethans obsessions are anything and everything star wars. He can name almost every jedi (he's almost 4), trains, and blocks. He will line all these things into circles and keep himself busy for hours.

My son loves things that spin - wheels, washing machines, fans, propellars (aeroplanes, boats) and anything he can spin with his hands (be it his hands, or clothes, string, necklace etc. He will watch or spin something for a long time. Since we have modified our diets we notice he does this when he has foods reactions.

My son was really into barney till he was 8 years old and kids started to tease him...So he like Dinos untill he started to like Ben 10 and now at 11 he still loves BEn 10 but kids making fun of them but loves to read and play his DS

My son who is almost 3 is obsessed with colouring, bubbles, slides (so much we bought one for our inside of our house) and pablo from The Backyardians. We have to spell out certain words, so that we don't get him on a rant. He becomes obsessed with movies and we have to watch them over and over and over. I know all the words to the disney movies...First Finding Nemo, Cars then it was the Toy Story's and now Shrek movies. When he was a baby he was crazy about Blues Clues...he would repeat "Clues Clues" until we put it on. My son has limited speech and words he does know, he doesnt pronounce them properly. So figuring out what he wants can be tricky

David will vary in his obsessions. He already had an obsession for the geometrical objects, organizing toys, the human body, volcanoes and now he is obsessed with space and everything that relates to this. (Sorry for my Inglish, I'm portuguese)

My son Connor is 5 years old. For over two years it was Thomas the Train, for the next two years it was Disney Cars and now its marine life. Whales and sharks in particular but also random facts such as what is the fastest fish, largest, what do they eat? ect.

my almost 9 yo son has had several obsessions over the years. it started when he was 2 yo. everything had to be organized. he would take all his trucks/cars or blocks and line them up in various patterns (color, biggest to smallest, car-truck-car-truck). it was very interesting to see how he would close his day by his patterns. he also loved to build. my ex husband collected VHS tapes (in form of complete sets of old series like wild wild west, mission impossible). our son would take the movies and build bridges or ramps with them. they covered my basement family room more often than not.

he's been obsessed with dinosaurs (about the age of 3-6). he's always loved circular things. he's big into learning about scuba diving and snorkeling. he's also gone thru a rollercoaster phase as well.

one of his current obsessions is the ratings on movies. he cannot watch a show if he doesn't know the rating. he's very into distinguishing appropriate vs inappropriate things right now. it's all about recognizing (albeit pushing) but also creating his own boundaries. THE SOLAR SYSTEM and all things Jupiter. He can go on for HOURS and his new favorite website is www.kidastronomer.com it's amazing to watch him soak up everything he comes across. he loves to read on his obsessions which i'll gladly placate his book obsession as well. he's also into reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and Captain Underpants when not learning more and more about rollercoasters and the universe.

My son(6yo) has always been obsessed with trains, like the other lady said it started with Thomas but now has gone on to real trains. He watches trains on you tube and has lots of real train videos. Trains are an expensive hobby to have!!
