My almost five year old little girl still wears a pullup to bed at night. She has never woken up with a dry pullup. I have tried to just put her in bed in panties and then waking her up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom but that just results in her sheets needing to be changed several times in the middle of the night. She does fine in panties during the day. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get her into panties at night?

My 5yr old son still wears a pullup at night and it's full in the morning. I'm not even considering taking it off him, he's not ready yet. I'm still having issues with my 7yr old daughter still wetting the bed. My 9yr old daughter stopped wearing pullups when she was 4yrs old, she was great but my other 2 kids are different and will do it in their own time. I limit their drinks 1 1/2 hrs before bedtime and I take them to the toilet before they go to bed and I wake them up when I go to bed to put them on the toilet again. I'm not worried, I know they'll get there in the end and we'll eventually have dry nights.

Hi,  I had the same problem with my daughter.  She would wake up wet.  So I put a potty in her room at night.  She then was able to get to it in time.  As per we live in a 2 story farm house, one bathroom.  Did you try a light.  Some kids are afraid to get out of bed at night re it dark and scarry.  I had problems with my daughter and in being dark so we gave her a flash light and it made it better.  Just some ideal....

I am so happy I have gotten replies from so many mothers going throught the same thing. I was beginning to worry that I was not being a good mother and that there was something more I could do. Now that I see I'm not the only one out there with this problem I can relax and just let her body let me know when she is ready. Thanks again!!

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. From age 3-4, I had my daughter in underwear at night, but about 6 mo. or so ago, I got frustrated with getting woken up at night at least once a week having to change her. I decided then that I would just put her in pull ups at night. She wets them occasionally, maybe once a week?. I feel a little bad, like I am 'babying' her, & that maybe I should go back to having her wear underwear. I do hate having to get up in the middle of the night, though, & she doesn't seem to mind that much. I'm not sure which way to go at this point. I am trying to limit her drinking at bedtime, but it doesn't always work as I think she sometimes forgets to drink enough during the day.

My son is the exact same way!! He has never stayed dry all night, in fact, he sometimes pees through his pull up! I have no answers for you but noone seems worried about it at this age. Just wanted to let you know I'm in the same boat.

I would definately say she is probably just not ready yet. I know it would be nice if she was, but many children aren't ready before 6 years of age. If you are concerned talk to your doctor, but if her bladder isn't developed there isn't much to be done.

Hi Veronica, both my five-year-old boy and three-year-old daughter are in the same boat. They go all day in underwear, but at night, they are both in pull-ups. I this past spring I was doing the same thing, limiting drinks before bed time, and waking them up in the middle of the night, but I had the same results. I made a comment to my daughter's pediatrician about this issue and she said to quit knocking yourself around about it. She said it might take up eleven years of age before they stop wetting the bed. Now I figure when it happens it happens. I just do not worry about it. I do have a girl friend that used an electronic device for her eight-year-old daughter. I have seen the device in the "One Step Ahead" magazine; it is called the "Nite Train'R" and the cost is $80.00. It worked for my girl friends daughter. I wish the best of luck to you!

If you're limiting her liquid in the evenings and she's still peeing alot at night, I don't think she's ready to go all night dry. Give it a few more months. Lots of kids (me included when I was a kid) wet the bed frequently, even as an early elementary schooler.
