My son has been turning down bottles as well as food for the past, I'd say about 2 months now. At his 6month check up he was 12lbs and thats when the Dr. 1st realized there was a problem. Nothing was suggested to me really that will help him and its becoming very concerning now because he is so small. He usually has no problem with his morning feed and night feed, but during the day its a fight to get him to eat, I know they say not to, but I find myself force feeding him just so he can get a meal in. Sometimes he gives in and eats, other times he falls out and cries and knocks the food away :( What can I do? Why is he going through this?

Ive been going through the same thing. My daughter is 9 months and weighs 14lbs & 8.1 oz. She has had problems forever. She has hit all her milestones b4 she was suppose to.. the only thing is she isnt gaiining. not sure if its bc she is very activite and has always been. It doesnt help that i nor any of my family members have ever fit into the normal catorg of weight. I am 25 and have never weighed more than 100 except 4 pregancy. We have upped her formula intake, so instead of the norm 1 scoop for 2 oz.. its about 1.5 for 2 oz... she hasnt put on a whole lot but more than she was with the normal way. Also she use to take down solids pretty good and now its like pulling teeth. have you gave your baby any real solids? idk if thats the case if mine but im thinking she had the taste of real food and now she does want baby food. but she doesnt eat enough cal with real food. I know what you have been going through. it has been a big stressful time on me. In one week i had 2 feed her every 30 mins to get food in her and she gained 10 oz in that week. Ive also had 2 write every pee/poop diaper & when, every feeding how much 7 when and also every calorie intake.. it is ok if im home doing nothing but really hard to do if busy. not much else i can tell you. we are going to see a gi specialist on the 16th & will b drawling blood. i would just try feeding more often like i said i had 2 do it every 30 mins but not every1 can do... and with solids try the ones that have more cal intake... its all about getting the cals in the body.. so talk 2 the doc about upping the formula intake. hope it helps and good luck!

My daughter is 2years old will be 3 this Dec. she weighs 24lbs. she is little at 1st I thought something was wrong with her but she is just a lil girl. I wouldn't worry to much about it.Just let him eat when he wants to don't force it,it makes it worse. Just give it a little bit of time

Didn't get to be seen by the doctor, had to reschedule, but they said don't worry too much he looks healthy and they are going to run some blood test next time. They said he was not following the grids so he is considered a bit under size but his head is growing just fine so its not a big concern. They didnt recommend changing formula, but they said to add butter or olive oil to his foods which I don't think is the best idea. He is teething! he has two teeth coming in on the bottom...slowly! and I do put cereal in his morning and night bottle. Thanks!

Is he teething? my son doesn't eat much if his teeth hurt...p.s. he went to the Doctor about 3 weeks ago (8 months old) and weighs 16lbs...it's ok if he is little if he you can get him to eat and he continues to grow...maybe get a second opinion from a different doctor to get more help with him not eating

I'm not sure 14 pounds is undersized too much. I have a baby in the family 14 pounds at 9 months...My boys were premature, so they were only 3 pounds when born. We feed them Neosure instead of Simulac and they gained...they are 18 pounds now and in the 50% of their age. Neosure has extra calories...BUT ALWAYS ask your doctor. Your baby may be developing just fine. Hope your appointment went well

Yes, he sleeps through the night, maybe thats where the problem started, hes been sleeping through the night pretty much since he was born maybe woke for 1 or 2 feedings the max. He usually has his last bottle around 10-11pm and falls asleep now. We are goin to the pediatrician today. Thank You Emma

does he sleep through the night? can you get any bottles down him during the night? i know you may not want to feed him in the night but if he takes the bottles at night and it helps him put on weight then that is better than him not eating! i think you need to go and see a paediatrician!
