I know that my stomach was itching but then I noticed stretch marks followed right behind. That is the only thing that I can think of. I also read that your skin gets very itchy towards the end of pregnancy. Good Luck, hope everything works itself out for you

Hey I started with an itchy belly and the itchiness spread. They did a biospy to see what kind of skin rash I had. It turns out I have a skin condition called PUPPS. It is harmless to you and the baby but it is extremely iritating. It also does not go away until you have the baby, so I have another 6 weeks of being tourcered by my own skin. I ended up havng to take prednisone to get some relief, however the itchiness dd not totally go away it did dubside a bit. Good luck and let me know what they find!

Not to add to the worry, but she may be sending you to check for a type of liver disease that can occur during pregnancy. My sister was tested for it. An itchy belly is one of the symptoms. I looked it up when she went through it. It usually goes away after the baby is born. You may need to be induced early. It is fairly rare so I'm sure they just wanted to rule it out.

Oh actually I just read something on Baby-gaga.com about this, Its normal for the belly to itch a lil but extreme itchy-ness could be a sign of a liver problem. I'm sure its probably nothing, but better to be on the safe side she probably wanted to check you out.. Good luck!!
