thanks guys...she is now 13 weeks and weighs 13lbs and that was a week ago! its just that i think she gets gas from me when she is sucking and not getting anything dont know tho if thats possible

LOTS of water, frequent nursing or pumping, and amazingly sleep helps. Get plenty of it. Coffee and soda may work against you. Yes, some ingredients in beer can help, but I recently read a medical article that the alcohol counteracts the positives.

I have a low milk supply and have to use the Medela supplementor to keep him at my breast so if you might want to look into it if you want your baby to gain more weight.You can buy it at Babies R US, Amazon, etc. like $40. I had the same problem about him crying and fussing at the breast because he wasnt getting enough and the Dr told me to supplement. I didnt know about the SNS until i did some research wish i knew about it sooner... I could've gone back to b. feeding exclusively and prevented using formula in bottles. You can ask your doctor to get you on Reglan, which I am on for my low milk supply. There is also Fenugreek to help with your supply. Guinness dark beer , half glass in morning and afternoon helps. 1 quart of water and 1 quart of milk, umm try pumping right after the shower... when the hot water brings out more milk.

I had the same problem. I thought I wasn't producing enough milk for my son. I was only pumping about 2oz at a time. Apparently babies can get more milk than a breast pump can so he is getting a sufficient supply when he eats. My dr recommended a cup of coffee (or anything with caffeine) a day and that seemed to help a lot. Also, I think my birth control pills I just started taking make me produce more because now I am pumping 4oz bottles.

Wow I feel like my little guy must be starving at almost 11 weeks he is only getting 2-2 & 1/2 oz per feeding! Well that's what I express when I pump anyway, occasionally I get 3 oz. He is gaining weight slowly but his doc isn't worried that he's only gained 2 pounds since he came home from the hospital....I have read a lot about how to increase your supply and I take Fenugreek Seed capsules 3 times a day and drink mother's milk tea (I buy both from amazon.com) and they seem to help some, I least feel more full when I take them. I try pumping at least twice a day after he eats and as long as he seems satisfied when he is done I am going to keep at it:o)

Make sure you take a nap during hte day if your little one is sleeping. That little cat nap for yourself..if possible, will help with your milk production...

there are a few wives tails about this. They say that if you drink half a beer at night that the hops that are in the beer help with the production. I have had this work with me cause my little guy eats every 2 hours during the day and he eats 4-6 oz from me each time. There is also a tea that you can take it is black liquorish flavored and strong I cannot remember the name but you can ask about it at health food places.

I am also expressing and bottle feeding. I get between 4-5oz per pumping, except for the firt one of the day. I get about 8oz then. I've heard that eating oatmeal helps. There's also a herb, though I'm not sure what it's called. Extra pumping sessions may also help, even if you just get a couple of ounces. How much is she eating? My son does about 4-5 oz every 3-4 hours. We do formula at his 8ish bottle. He'll eat at 12ish and then breastfeed in the middle of the night. He's still feeding every 4 hours overnight.
