Breast Feeding Babies

My baby takes about 6 1/2 oz in each bottle while I am at work. On my sheet from my pediatricians office at the two month appointment said that he should be eating about 5 oz by now. Every baby is different. As long as your baby is growing and seems satisfied then try not to worry too much. It's so hard to judge how much your baby is getting when you breastfeed, so go on how satisfied she seems. I hope this helps.

As long as she is gaining weight and having 5 to 8 wet diapers a day, don't worry..She's going to make sure you know she's hungry. Just watch for signs to increase her intake..Is she still acting hungry after the bottle, or content? Just go by her not what you read, it will make you crazy! Trust me....

breast-fed babies are supposed to eat as often, and as much as they want; they regulate themselves. so there's no rule really, it's whatever makes your baby happy. one thing to keep in mind though is that 4oz breast milk is not the same as 4oz formula, so you can't compare the quantity you're feeding your baby with the theoretical quantity you would give to a bottle(formula)-fed baby the same age. as long as she's a happy baby, you're doing fine! and many congratulations to all those mums who manage to juggle work and pumping their milk for their babies!

Emmy drinks 6oz every 3.5-4.5hrs when i'm at work. This is pretty normal for her since she empties one breast and has to go to the other to get full. On days she is starving I have to feed her almost every 2hrs and sometimes I throw in a bottle of bm because she is just to hungry. Every baby is different, but at 4months I think between 4-8oz is normal. They say they should get between 24-32oz at this age so go from there based on how often they eat. HTH!

Well this makes me feel better. Alot of people were telling me my lil one wasn't eating enough. She nirmally only takes about 3oz when she gets a bottle of breastmilk, which is when I am at work or we are out for a few hours. She seems satisfied with her 3 LIL ounces!

My son takes 4 oz to. but at night 3oz. i work at a day care and yes its normal.
he is 13 weeks.

Man everyone else's babies seem like pigs compared to my little one...she is the littlest eater in the whole world I feel like...When I am away at work she is only taking 2-3 ounces max per feeding...she has been taking 2 ounces since she was like 2 weeks old...occasionally there is the day where she wants to constantly eat but on a normal day she is just a tiny eater! I was worried about it at first but then I realized that if she were hungrier she would definitely let us know!!

My son is three months and drinks about 4oz of breastmilk from a bottle. I agree that if baby seems content this should be fine. It also depends on how often she's feeding. Some babies drink more but have less feedings during a day.

my son just turned for months today and he takes the same amount when he is bottle fed with breast milk i agree with marie. she'll take what she wants if she seems content then that is enough.

I think it depends on your child's need but according to the books I've read a 3 month old should be eating anywhere from 4 to 6 oz. As long your baby seems full and sleeps well the amount you are feeding should be fine. Hope this helps.
