I am constantly trying to get my daughter to laugh. I make faces and funny noises. She tries to laugh, but it just doesn't seem to come out. Has anyone dealt with the samething?

Whenever I change Rachel, I tend to blow raspberries on her tummy and the soles of her feet and that makes her laugh. She only laughs for me, not her dad and she's only been laughing properly for a couple of weeks. Before that, it was a slight chickle every so often form about 3 1/2 months

Jo opens her mouth in a silent laugh for the most part...
She's getting there, though.

My son is 5 months old and he cracks up like crazy. He started doing this at about 4 months. It took him a while too so don't worry.

My son has been laughing since he was like 3 months old, he laughs all the time. I wouldn't worry about it, all babies are different, I was so worried cause it was taking him so long to roll over... but then one day he just rolled and rolled quite a few times. So one day it'll happen!

My little girl is almost 5 months and she still hasn't really laughed. Like yours, she tries very hard, but usually ends up giving herself the hiccups! She does squeal though and gives a sort of chuckle when we tickle her tummy. I'm glad to hear she's not the only one who doesn't laugh yet though. I'm sure it'll come with time.

My baby has been laughing for weeks now, she mainly used to laugh at her daddy but now she just laughs i hear her on the monitor talking to herself and then just start laughing. I think it may just take a while for her to come out.

My daughter laughed for the very first time March 25th. My friend was sitting on the floor next to her and when she sneezed, my friend copied her and she laughed so hard. I almost cryed and I tryed so hard to get her to laugh for me and she wouldnt, but my 6 year old gets her to laugh all the time making funny faces at her. I danced with her last week and she laughed at me for a second.

Some babies laugh sooner then others. My sister's baby boy is a week older then my daughter and he has been laughing for a long time. My daughter laughed for the first time a while back. It is hard to make her laugh I guess she isn't amused by just anything.

Brooklyn is just under 4 and a half months and she's been laughing for a couple of weeks now. She only laughs for me, but that's fine. =] Back when she was about 2 months old my boyfriend was sitting with her and said she was going to have a creepy laugh. She turned to him with the biggest pouty face ever! It was hilarious.

have you tried gnawing on her feet? Maybe rasp-berrying her tummy...that always works for us. You can also try peekaboo with a brightly colored blanket, something with reds and yellows, like small two inch square quilt patches. How old is your baby? Sometimes it comes real easy, sometimes not. Is she able to smile?

Adam started laughing about a month and a half ago when I tickled his mouth with one of his feet. Now he laughs at many things. When I tickle him all over... When I throw him up in the air while playing...When I laugh at him...The other day he was sitting in his chair facing the TV and started laughing when there was an ad with pieces of water melon jumping across the screen.

My son has been chuckling for about two months now and for about the last month has really gotten into full out laughing. I love it! He seems to laugh the most for me when I'm "biting" him on his chest, almost his side. He'll laugh so hard he nearly chokes himself, and then I get to laughing and he's just laughing because I'm laughing. All babies will laugh when they feel like it. You really can't make a baby do something they don't want to, or just aren't ready for, so be patient and keep those funny faces coming!

My husband says that our son laughs more at him because I am the one that cleans his nose out and his ears and does all the NO FUN stuff. What ever! LOL Every child develops differently. I keep trying to get him to laugh and he'll laugh a little bit but ya know...maybe Daddy needs to start cleaning out the nose and doing all the yucky stuff. LOL

laughing for daddy is more common because: Men tend to have more contrasting features on their face which make them more visually appealing to baby (ie. facial hair, more pronounced features) couple this with funny faces and babies love it! Also, Mommy is the schedule setter right now - she bathes, feeds, puts to bed baby because she is the one likely on Mat leave -whereas Daddy is seen for an hour or two a day and every moment spent with him is all about fun - babies recognize this. My daughter will not go to sleep for husband because she just wants to stare at him or she wants him to move her around.

My daughter laughed once at 3 months and then nothing for a month and a half. Now she chuckles or giggles - but not a hearty belly laugh. I read somewhere that laughing isn't actually as common as people think. Don't worry though - keep amusing your baby - stimulation helps their brain grow! One day she is going to surprise you and it will be awesome.

My LO barely laughs. It wasn't until 4 months we got any sort of laugh and even then, it was more like a chuckle and not a full laugh. She has only done it maybe 4 times, too. She smiles a lot and squeals, but I want to hear her full out laugh dang it!

Riley does laugh sometimes but mostly smiles, he laughts when you kiss his tummy or when you bounce him up and down on your knee. Took him quite a while to do it though, was quite hard to amuse him!! lol
