Ok, so we all are transitioning over to solids now so how are you managing to fit in cereal, fruits, veggies, and bottles? Need to know what other moms are doing as far as feeding schedule because I know the milk is still very important and its hard to keep up with.

I am on a resembling adult eating 'schedule' breakfast, lunch and supper are solids. The breastfeeding inbetween - pre-breakfast, morning tea, afternoon tea and bedtime.
Breakfast is cereal and sometimes fruit, lunch is veggies and sometimes fruit for pudding and then cereal for supper with fruit for pudding - or sometimes some veggies if there was leftover from lunch. But we will be introducing protein this month - My baba Jasmine is 6 months - but that will be after a clinic visit.

i have never scheduled my babies, & i have 4. i have always been told the formula or breast milk feedings should stay the same as b4 starting solids, 6 month olds need MORE than that, which is why they should start getting solids. solids should not replace bottles yet, just supplement. my 6 month old eats twice a day, cereal in the morning (mixed with fruit after a few days of plain for allergy testing) and veggies in the evening. some babies eat more :) i just keep feeding her until she stops opening her mouth when i put the spoon to it. that's babies way of telling u they're full. the best way to make sure that your baby is still getting the milk s/he needs is to feed a bottle before solids. i was told to do this until about 9 months, and then switch the order, feeding solids first, and finishing up with a bottle (or cup). i started with one meal of cereal a day, and have just started to give her 2. just remember, formula or bm is still your baby's #1 food source.

Hi Jasmine,I don't have a schedule everyday for us is diffrent as I am a working mom. My lil Poena is 6 months but I try so that all she eats someting in the morning that could be from cereal, yougurt, fruit or veggie........I also give her baby juice wish she drinks very well so if in that day she does not want to eat a fruit I know she will get the supplement from the juice. She alos drinks 125 ml of water a day and 270 ml of formula during the day.At nitght she takes another 270 ml of formula or more.

I suggest you take each day as it comes as long as you try to fit everything in the day.Hope you find a sollution soon.

between 8:30-9:30 : breast milk
between 10:30-11:00 : oatmeal & banana cereal mixed with milk, and a fruit to eat with it
between 11:30-12:00 : lay her down for her nap till between 2:30-3:30
When ever she wakes up i will usually breast feed her and then feed her the same thing i did for breakfast
between 5:00-6:30 : oatmeal & banana cereal mixed with milk and instead of fruit to go with it i will give her a vegetable instead, and then again after i give her juice mixed with water
between 7:30-8:30 : bed

Well, my 6 month old eats a little differently than everyone else. He strictly only eats 4 times a day. My ped. said that was fine and my son is not hungry in between so I am not concerned. He sleeps 10 or so hours through the night too!

8:30 - Breastmilk
9:15 - Cereal with Apple Juice
11:00-1:00 - Nap
1:00 - Breastmilk followed with a 4 oz jar of veggies
3:00 - 5:00 - Nap
5:00 - Breastmilk followed with a4 oz jar of fruit
9:00 - Breastmilk
9:30 - Bed

Barbara~ with our little one we had to ween him off a middleof the night feed as well. We slowly started making each bottle smaller for that feed until it was eliminated. We also started giving him his last bottle around 9-9:30pm and 2 tablespoons of rice cereal (spoon fed) about 8pm. This keeps him satisfied most nights. He still wakes off and on some nights, but we give him his pacifier and he falls back asleep until 6:30 or 7:30. It took a week or so to ween him, so we had some sleepless nights of crying off and on, but our ped told us he was getting plenty of calories during the day and to ween him off the middle of the nigth feed. She said the longer we waited the harder it would get. Good luck!!

Hi my daughter isn't a big eater, she has

7:00 Milk

8:45 Baby Cereal with fruit puree mixed in

she then goes down for a nap till about 11:30 roundabouts

12;00 Lunch puree veggies with a drink of water

2:30 another milk feed and then another nap till about 4:30- 5:00

5:00-5:30 Dinner more puree veg (I will start adding meat to this feed
soon)

6:30 bath time

7;00 another milk feed

7:30 Bed

She has also very annoyingly started waking up at about 4 am for a feed. It started before she was weaned properly and now I can't seem to get rid of it

She doesn't have desserts or snacks as this would fill her up too much an she'd throw up x

My son Preston gets:

- cereal when he wakes up in the a.m.
- breastfeeding/bottle right after cereal or up to 2 hours later
- then lunch, he gets his fruit and vegetable, then water
- then 2 hours later breastfeeding/bottle
- then dinner aprox 2-4 hours after followed by water
- then breastfeeding/bottle
- then before bed he gets cereal and a fruit, then a bath, then breastfeeding/bottle, and he sleeps excellent through the night!

*this schedule works out perfectly for him, he's gaining weight, height, brain normally, and he's above average in many things.... and if he shows signs of hunger before the "time" for one of the meals, he will get a breastfeeding/bottle. but usually, he doesn't.

Rylan just turned 6 months yesterday and here is our schedule right now:

6:30 AM - 5oz Bottle

10:00 AM - 5oz Bottle with Tblsp of rice cereal and half jar of a fruit

12:00 PM - 2oz Juice

2:00 PM - 5oz Bottle

4:00 PM - 2oz Juice

6:30 PM - 5 oz Bottle and a jar of veggies or fruit

9-10 PM we start with 2oz formula and make the rice cereal pretty thick, then a bath and then right before bed he eats a 4-5oz bottle. Sleeps all night

And he never cries about being hungry so we have just kept him on this schedule. Even in the mornings he just lays in his crib until it's time to get up and eat.

Just try a few different things and see what works for you and your child. All babies are different. Good Luck!!

Wow, you guys are great! I am having trouble keeping my 6 month old on a regular schedule.

6:30 breastfeed until he stops
9:30 breastfeed and 1/2 jar of fruit with cereal
12:30 breastfeed until he stops
3:30 1/2 jar fruit breastfeed
7:00 breastfeed

**this means he is really only getting one portion of cereal and 2 portions of fruit per day. I tried homemade carrots and peas and added some meat to his cereal for a week but he hated it, then came down with a cold...

I am wondering if he should not just be breastfeeding exclusively...I have the milk supply (just barely).

Any suggestions?

My son eats every 3 to 3.5 hours which translates to 5 feedings a day with a 6th feed as his "dream" feed at 9:30. I breastfeed him at all his feedings first, and after his 2nd feed of the day I give him fruit mixed in with rice cereal (sometimes oatmeal) and then after his 4th feed, I'll give him a veggie option, we're on peas this week. It seems to work out so far and I feel like he's getting a bit of everything that way.
Best of luck to you! :)

I`m confused too, I`ve been starting my baby on solids, just first tastes for the last few weeks. I also started bottle feeding him every 4 hours, rather than 3,(on the advice from my mum and mum in law!) but looking at these schedules it seems to work with the babies eating every 3 hours or so. I`ve just been trying to give him a bit before or halfway through a bottle if he will take it, but sometimes he`s too hungry or tired. And then I worry about him getting enough water inbetween or with meals, but i guess if you eventually cut out a bottle or two he`s more likely to take the water with a meal. So confused but i guess we`ll all eventually get our own routines, led by the baby.

My ped reccommends 24-32 ozs of formula per day, so as long as you manage to get that in it's up to you how you want your schedule.

I breastfeed & at six months this is our schedule:
We feed on demand, which works out to be every 2 hours from 7am-7pm (7 times a day), & once a day I give her a jar of fruits or veggies. My daughter isn't really into the whole solid thing yet though, my son at the same age was already eating 2 jars of food (one fruit, one veggie) with 4oz of formula mixed with baby cereal in the mornings.

Every child is different....I'd just follow your child's lead. :)

My twins are 6months and take their eating and sleeping very seriously. Here's what a typical day looks like

7am 8oz bottle

8:15 they split 4-6oz baby yogurt w/mixed in Cheerios, or rice cereal mixed with liquid yogurt or formula

9-11 nap

11:15 they split 4-6 oz of pureed fruits and/veggies followed immediately by 6oz bottle

1-2:30 nap

2:45 6oz bottle

4:30-5:30 nap

5:45 they split 4-6oz pureed veggies and/or fruit followed immediately by a 6oz bottle

7pm bed

Sometimes they get yogurt melts as an after meal treat. And they've started eating chicken as a protein My dr told me to stagger the bottles and solids. But since they're only awake for 2hr intervals max, they mostly do all their feeding in one swoop. This way we can spend the rest of their time playing. They seem happy and healthy, so i'm not concerned about it

Every parenting style is different of course, and I know that some parents swear by schedules, but I never scheduled any of my children.
With this youngest one I have found that she prefers BF in the early morning, but eats her solid breakfast of fruits and oatmeal or fruits, or fruits and mixed grains around 10am, and then around 12-2 she might 'snack' on BF and eat some good veggies, or snack on veggies and drink some good BF, and then around 5-6pm she eats a good mixed meat and veggies, or meat and gravy, or meat and potatoes, and then some light BF. Around 8pm we give her a rice bottle, and then she BF's around 9pm before she goes to sleep for the night. She also may have 1-2 juice bottles during the day and 1-2 water bottles....
I look for her cues and feed her accordingly. She knows what she wants, when she wants, and how she wants it....
I figure what has worked for my teens will work for this one as well. ;-D Good luck!
