one of my twins can sit unaided with just her hands to balance her but her twin sister needs a lot of support, ie cushions etc! is anyone elses baby not sitting up yet without cushions? they were born december 15th and are non identical twins!

My daughter was born 12/29 and she started sitting up unsupported the day after her 6 mnth appt. But I have fraternal twins as well and they will hardly ever do things as fast as other kids or at the same time

My daughter (2/12/09) has not long learnt to sit unaided, it was amazing one day she kept falling over and needing lots of cushions and then the next she didnt need them at all.

my little man was born 2nd Dec and has only recently started sitting unaided, what i did to help him was...u know the round breastfeeding pillows (kind of crescent shaped) i sat him with tha around his back and gradually moved it further away, he was still very wobbly even till last week but this week is sitting fine, ive just been reading the post about all the Dec babies that are crawling and it really makes my fella seem slow! I know they all go at their own pace but my other 2 are 12 and 9 and i cant remember when they started crawling etc (i was in my teens having them).
Well don to u it must be hard work with twins! Im due another on the 15th Dec this yr so kind of like twins but a year appart lol

my daughter born december 19th 09 sits all by her self. never used a pillow. she sits sits to a crawl and crawls and pulls her self to a stand!!

my son born December 17th, can sit up really good with no support and if he does fall on his stomach or back he can sit his self back up

Kamden was born December 18th He can sit up unsupported when he is leaning forward and upright for a brief period of time. That's why we practice on the bed. no crawling yet either. :(

my son was born December 4th 2009 and he still needs help. he will pull himself up to sit up and he sits for 15-30 seconds max...and then falls on his hands into the crawling position. he was an early crawler, but he seems to be taking longer for the sitting up. but i'm sure he'll get it soon.

My little girl was born 19th December and has been sitting independently since 4 months of age. She's 7 and a half months now. I wouldn't worry too much though, babies will sit/roll over/crawl/walk etc when they are ready. It's not a good idea to force them before they are ready.

My baby girl started sitting up unaided just before 5 months, my son sat up unaided when he was 5 & a half months, my cousins son sat up at 6 months. Every child is different, they move at their own pace. :) Especially since you have twins I would not worry at all since twins tend to be born early making their actual age & developmental age totally different. Be thankful that you're getting to cherish that stage longer....my little girl is already cruising around furniture, my son walked at 8 months so I'm sure she'll be ready soon too. :p

My son was born December 4th and has been sitting without help since May 29 as long as I got him into sitting position. He's been sitting all by himself since early June and now crawls and pulls himself up to things.

My Christmas baby isn't sitting yet. She will for about 5 seconds then throw herself backwards. The only way I can get her to sit longer is if I put a toy in front of her to amuse her. I still sit behind her to catch her when she gets annoyed and leans back. She can't sit but can stand if you hold her hands... :)

My son is seven months old and while he can hold himself up on his hands and knees to try and crawl, he can't sit up by himself yet. It concerns me too but i guess every baby does things at their own pace, and whichever action they seem to like more. LOL.

OMG your girls are so much faster than my girl... she will be 8 months on the 3rd and has not started crawling. I sit her a lot on her Bumbo and noticed that when i do try to sit her without it she is getting a bit more balanced...but still not sitting on her own. She just rolls around..... last time it was scary but funny...I had gone in to the restroom and when i came out my son told me his sister was under his bed...guess she had rolled herself under there lol. We have nothing under the bed and she did not even look scare...i got scared lol. Your little ones seem more active than mine! Don't worry I'm sure the other twin will start sitting soon...she is just taking her time :)

My girls are 7 mos today, they are both crawling and one of them is sitting (I swear her twin is just lazy). It was pretty funny to start with, they will just flip right over the side and look up at me like "HA"

I use the Bumbo for my daughter, she is 7 months. It has not happened to me yet where she escapes from it, maybe because she is not crawling or sitting(without support). Plus i have a chunky little one with really thick legs so its like she is stuck there lol... No but i usually leave her in it with the tray...Do you have the tray for yours?? I believe it helps a lot, plus i just put toys on top of the tray that way she entertains herself and plays throwing them around. How old are your kids? Maybe they don't need it anymore or they probably don't like it. Kids are each so different and adorable. But yes have not had that problem...at least not yet.

Off topic a bit, but those of you that are using the Bumbos have any of you had your kids escape yet? I can put one of the babies in her seat turn around to pick up the other and before I can get turned back around, the first baby is back on the floor. Needless to say, I don't use my Bumbos much anymore. I sit in front of them on the floor and feed them and the girls climb on them but that's it.

You are not alone...my daughter was born Dec 3 and still isn't sitting without any support. I got her the Bumbo chair and I think it is helping her out a bit though, cause little by little she try's balancing but still falls back or to the sides...even goes forward lol. So I do hope is normal....she isn't even crawling, all she does is rolls around and moves sideways lol.

my daughter (born Christmas day) learned to crawl before she learned to sit up. She crawled at 5 and 1/2 months and sat up a week later. so following the typical calendar of events is not so typical

My son was born on 12/12. At the Dr. office the doctor wedged him in the crack of the bench and proped him on both of his fists let go, and he stayed about 2 seconds and fell. The Dr. said "He can sit". He still at now over 7 mo. can't sit even with his hands longer than a couple of seconds.

One of my twin girls (born Dec 9th) can almost sit up unassisted (only lasts couple of seconds) and the other one still have a few weeks to go it looks like so I think it’s normal.

Mine was born Dec 2nd, and she can sit up for minutes at a time unsupported. I think it's because I put her in a Bumbo seat to eat. I think it helps strengthen their abdominal muscles.

I have fraternal twin girls that were born Dec 23 and they are doing the same thing! One of them sits as pretty as you please and has started crawling (just this week), the other refuses to even try to sit up but has been crawling with her elbows for a few weeks! Glad to know it's not just me because I was starting to worry a little bit!

my little girl born 29.12.09 sits unaided for a couple of seconds. not worried she'll get it when she ready.
she's focused on strengthening her arms and legs...ready for the crawl mission.great to watch, seeing them rock side to side, and sometimes looking like she's doing push ups. hehe

my lil' hanna, born the 15th, is at the stage of walking along furniture. like everyone else has said babies all grow differently!! my oldest was walking by 8 months, but my second didn't start walking until 15 months...........when yours is ready it will happen, trust me the slower she is less you will be running after them!!

My daughter is not sitting up, either. She was born Dec. 20th. Don't worry! My son didn't sit unaided until he was close to 9 months and now he is into everything at almost 2 years.

My guy was born Dec. 22nd and just this week has started sitting unaided, but he leans to one side a LOT and uses both arms to hold himself in that leaned-over sit. It's not exactly the straight-up unaided sitting that my older son did...but I'm guessing my younger son is trying to keep from being a big head-bonk target by staying low to the ground. :)

my daughter was born december 20th, and she isn't sitting unaided on the floor. when she's sitting with you she can though.

My daughter was born on the 22nd and she has been sitting for a while, she is very active, she has been crawling for a month now and she is pulling herself up on anything she can find. For those parents whose children are not moving much it will come, it always does, and enjoy this time when you can put your baby down on a blanket and not blink and they are gone off exploring.

My BIG GUY born Dec 20th...is 22 lbs and he sits for a few minutes...he will fall over if he goes to far to grab something. I was told by ped. "substantial" babies take longer to do those gross motor skills.

My son was born 16th of December and has been siting unaided since 4 and half months, started camando crawling at 5 months and is now crawling properly and pulling himself up on everything! All babies are different and will do there own thing wen there ready

My son has been sitting up since he was about 4 1/2 months. Freaked me out but he sits up straight as a board now and is beginning to crawl and has even started pulling up in his baby bed. He was born Dec. 28th

My youngest, born Dec. 26 can balance himself with his hands on the floor for only a couple of minutes at a time, which could be my own fault...I haven't had as much time to spend trying to help him (he's my fourth) as I would like. But he's getting there.

Neither one of my twins can they were born 12-18-09 10 weeks early. I'm not expecting them to either. They sit up with lots of help but not on there own

my daughter was born dec 17th and she has been sitting for 2 months.. when she was 5 months she needed the bobby around her in case but from about 5 1/2 on she sits with out anything and can lean over and get into crawling position and the sit herself back up..

I have identical twin boys. The bigger of the two can sit unaided, but I still have to watch him just in case he topples over. I never leave him alone. And the little one, can sit on his own, but topples over much easier, he hasn't gotten his balance yet. Mine were born December 18th 3 weeks early.

My baby boy Haden was born December 16th and he still can't sit up by hisself without me supporting him or me leaning him up against something either. I'm clueless like you! haha! I thought there was something wrong with him cuz of him being slow about sitting up!

My daughter has almost got it down... she can sit up for a few mins but after that she leans and falls over so I keep the boppy around her. She was born Dec. 21st

i actually just posted a convo about this the other day bc i was startin to get worried..... the title is "SITTING UP????" ive had LOTS of feedback so feel free to browse thru what other mommas had to say to me.... although it did seem like more often then not their babies were already sitting unsupported :(
