babies should not get solids until 6 months- it can cause many problems for their digestive systems.

I also gave my little one some cereal and she loved it. Her digestive system handled it just fine. I only gave her a little to start. Back in the day babies ate cereal and early ages and they turned out just fine. If the baby is hungry then feed them ;-) All babies develop different and some need just a little more then milk. My little one eats about 4-5 oz every 2 1/2 to 3 hours and goes 8 hours thru the night!!!!

my daughter, who is 2 months and 3 days old eats 4-6oz every 2-3hours or a little longer if she naps longer. i have tried cereal in her bottles, at night sometimes when she doesnt sleep well during the day. i'll probably start her on actually eating cereal within the next month..around when she's about 3 months...so she gets the hang of it as well.

I started my first son on cereal and fruits by the time he was 10 weeks old and he was just fine and has no allergies to anything. My 11 week old on the other hand has a protein allergy andis seeing a specialist tomorrow so he's still on just formula til we can get his tummy better. I think that it really just depends upon the child. Every child is different. My 18 month old wanted food at a young age and he's as healthy as can be. Never had an ear infection has only had 2 colds and that's it.

My 9 week old baby girl eats between 5 and 8 ounces every 3-4 hours. She sleeps 6-7 hours usually and we're contemplating when to start adding a little cereal, given the increase in how much she eats. We'll see, we go for our 2 month checkup tomorrow and we'll discuss it with our doctor before we decide what to do.

My 2 month old little girl eats between 3-4 oz every 2-3 hours during the day and at night she eats 4 oz. and sleeps for about 6-7 hours and when she gets up she will eat 4 more oz. As far as cereal goes, my doctor told us that when they start drooling a lot and reach for or act like they are trying to get your food they can be started on cereal. It is all a matter of how you are parenting. There is nothing wrong with it because my little one gets a little cereal at night also. Our doctor said that a baby can be ready for cereal as young as 7 weeks.

My son is almost 10 weeks old, and weighs 9lbs exactly (as of 4 days ago). He eats 3.5 ounces every 3-4 hours. he was eating 4.5 ounces but spitting up a lot so my dr. told me to cut it back an ounce and switch to the AR formula, which has a little bit of rice cereal in it. it seems to work mostly. My dr. told me to put in 1tsp of rice cereal per ounce if the spitting up continues, also the spit up wakes my son up at night so my dr. told me if i didnt want to do it during the day, i should do it at night....still haven't yet i wanted to wait a week to try this out. he sleeps about 4 hours at a time at night...so maybe we will try the cereal soon...i go back to work tomorrow and the hubby STINKS at the night shift, plus he works 12 hour shifts so he's pretty tired... :-/

My 8wk old baby boy eats anywhere from 4-6 oz every 4 hours. You should not be feeding your child babyfood so early as it can cause food allergies later on. I was told by a surgeon at Cooks Children Hospital that you can give him juice though, because it will help with their digestive system to help them go potty more. I haven't tried it yet.

My baby girl is 11 weeks old, she is on 5oz bottles every 4-8 hrs but she is also on 1/4 jar of baby food 3 times a day just to satisfy her. She is my 4th daughter and all my girls started on baby food early between 12 and 14 weeks. You just know when your baby is ready for that next step and each baby is differant, just like each parent is. Some will go by "the book" and not start weaning until at least 4mths but if you feel your baby needs more, than my advise is to try it, if your baby doesn't want it they won't eat it!!!

My baby just turned 2 months and she eats 6 ounces every 4 hours during the day, but the doctor had us add rice to her formula because she projectile vomits with out it. We should be able to take her off of it soon till she's ready to eat it but for now it helps her keep her formula down, and that's even with her on soy.

My 11 week old is having 4-5 oz ever 4 hours. She is 13lbs! Lol! I have learned that Doctors don't know everything! I often wonder what other think mothers did before doctors were on every corner? I mean obviously mother's natural instinct applied or there would be no one on earth to be doctors!

If you feel it's right for your baby feed them cereal! My daughter has had some applesauce to help her bowels, and some Karo in her bottles from time to time. The older women in my family are an amazing tool/ resource for me because they all had large families and perfectly healthy babies, with out running to the dr for every concern.

mine is 10 weeks old and is freaking starving! im breastfeeding and he'll completely empty me out then scream for more, so we have to give him 1 or 2 oz of formula on top. if i dont give him the formula he starts screaming like an hour later.

it sucks bc i thought 2 month olds were suppose to eat every 3 - 4 hours, but he eats every 1 - 2 hours.

and sometimes he even spits up after. the little glutton lol.

you girls that have their babies sleeping through the night, whats your secret? mine goes to bed at 10 and is up to eat at 1, 5, and 8 am.

hes going for his 2 month check up next thursday so im gonna ask about it then.

he was 4 weeks early, i wonder if that has something to do with it...

I put about 1tbs of rice in her formula (my doctor actually suggested it because she couldn't keep down formula by itself). My doc told me that if she can sit up with support rice is ok, but not to give her cereal until she can sit up on her own. Hope this helps

Most babies arnt ready gor it untill they are about 5 months old,

This is my 2nd child and she is on the breast so I can't tell how much she actually gets at each feeding. My first took about 4 oz of formula every couple of hours at this age and she did not start solids until she was close to 4 months old. Not judging anyone who gives their child rice cereal because I was on it at 2 weeks when I was a baby. However I have always heard that you shouldn't start a baby on any solids (unless medically necessary with rice cereal for a baby with reflux issues) until he/she is able to eat it off a spoon. If you notice most babies at 2 months have a tongue reflex to push things out of their mouths (this keeps them from choking). This doesn't start going away until about 3 or 4 months of age. This is when they start getting ready for solids. I do not agree with putting any kind of food in a bottle. It's been my experience that this does not make babies sleep better at night. What makes them sleep better is getting all the calories they need during the day then they don't need to wake up for that 2am feeding. Rather than listening to everyone else just read and do your own research. Having worked in the medical field, I know that doctor's are not always right. In my opinion babies should get all nutrition and fluid from breastmilk or formula for at least the first 3 to 4 months (unless of course medically necessary). I'm waiting until six months with this one. Then you don't have to worry so much about digestive problems like constipation or food allergies. And another thing, I have never heard of rice cereal preventing asthma. I reccomend getting a book called Super Baby Food. I followed it with my first and intend to use it with this one. My first child never had diarrhea or constipation as a baby and to this day does not have any food allergies. She is 6 now.

In my opinion, if you feel your child is handling the cereal, keep feeding him it. My daughter was eating so much by 2 weeks old, that we had to start her on formula/ cereal bottles. My son however can not digest cereal at this time or I'd have started him on it as well. He eats an enormous amount of formula a day. 7-8 oz bottles every 2- 2 1/2 hours.

My daughter is 2 months today and she takes a 5oz bottle of breastmilk every 3 hours during the day while I am at work and at night she is strictly on the breast and sleeps anywhere from 9-10pm to 3am. She is 13lbs so I am sure her bottles will soon be 6oz. I pump during the day and most of the time I get what she takes so hopefully it will continue that way. We just had our check up and I wanted to ask about adding rice cereal but got side tracked when they were giving her shots. :( But I will definitely ask at my next appointment and hopefully soon she will start sleeping all night, we had two nights in a row where she slept all night but it was a tease because on the 3rd night she was up again..... oh well I wouldn't trade her for the world.
