How much should a 4 month old eat and how long do they sleep at night?

I was lucky with my first she slept through the night from day one! around 4 months they should be eating around 4-6 oz in a sitting and eating every 4-6 hours. you should just let her sleep at night as by 4 months they shouldn't need a whole lot of feedings at night maybe one or two depending on your child but not every baby will wake up at night around 4 months. another site that is helpful in answering questions is http://www.miraclematernity.com/impregna...

my son is 4 months old. Born Dec 4, 2009. He eats 3 two oz containers of baby food a day. And usually he eats 26-32 oz of formula. we dont always stick to this we go by what hes acting like and his wants. He sleeps no longer than a total of 2 hours during the day and he goes to bed around 9 at note and sleeps until 5 30 and gets in the bed with me and then we are up again at 6 45

my daughter was born on the 18, and after 3 weeks she developed gerd, which was really hard on us, so she doesnt weigh much at all, but now, she is finally up to 6 ounces every 3 hours (sometimes a little sooner) but sleeps from about 8 or 9 till like 6ish in the morning...she's done it since she was just over 4 weeks

mine eats about every 2.5 to 3 hours, 5 to 6 oz per feeding.
he sleeps about 12 hours at night and maybe 2 two hour naps during the day.

My little guy was born 12/24/09. He eats approx 20 mins every 3 hours, I pump during the day and he eats 4 oz every 3 hours. He wakes up once every night at 2am, regardless of what time he goes down, which iss usually at 9pm. Then he gets up at 6 am. He is very regular.

My daughter is 15 weeks old and she has 4 bottles of formula a day and usually sleeps through the night, she has 8oz first thing and before bed and 7oz for the other 2. She tends to vary between taking 5 and 7 oz per feed sometimes more. She's in a routine which is bath at 6-30 then bottle and she is usually in bed by 7-30 and she sleeps until 6 at least, today she went till 7-30! If she wakes in the night and I think she's hungry I'll make her a 7oz bottle but find that if she takes 20-25oz in a day she usually sleeps through.

It sounds like you;re doing a great job and if she's sleeping she's obviously not hungry and maybe just not a big eater, she might eat more when she starts having food but I don't think you need to worry if she is sleeping, happy when awake and she has plenty of wet and dirty nappies.

My son was born Dec. 3rd and sleeps from 9:30pm-7am without waking. He takes 6 oz. every 3-4 hours through the day and gets a vegetable once a day and cereal before bed before his night bottle.

My daughter was born Dec 8th and she eats anywhere from 4-6 oz every 3 hours. In the morning she starts with 5 or 6 and right before bed she eats closer to 6. She sleeps for about 10 hours every night. She eats about 5 times a day.

my daughter was born Dec 6, she eats 8oz every 5hrs...at bedtime she eats cereal with a spoon and takes her last 8oz bottle this has only been going on for about 2wks. she goes to bed around 10pm....pretty late but she does sleep until 7am, has a bottle at 7am and then goes back to sleep until about 10am.

my almost 4 month old is strictly breast fed unless we go out but she will nurse for a good twenty mins or so and will sleep or go without eating again for about 4 hours. at night she will nurse for a good half hour or so then sleep for a good 8hours and sometimes longer. i dont ever wake her to feed anymore she just does it on her own. if she is hungry she just wakes up and lets me know. but she is a sleeper. she doesnt like to be up to much. she will eat, burp, get changed and stay away for about an hour in that whole process and then out like a light.

My daughter was born Dec. 8 and she's a good sleeper most of the time..We give her an 8 oz bottle with cereal in it..She takes a nap..Eats a 4-6 oz bottle around 2 and sometimes has juice later in the evening..Her last bottle she gets around 8..She gets another 8 oz bottle with cereal..It helps her sleep..Sometimes when we try to feed her more often she doesn't want it..The cereal keeps her satisfied!!

My son was born Dec 4... he sleeps around 12mn after his last feeding. Wakes up at 8am then sleeps till 11am. I feed him 6oz every 4 hrs. aside from milk, i started giving him rice cereal every 12nn and 4pm. he takes one or two 30 min / 1 hr nap during the day. :)

My son was born Dec 18th and he sleeps through the night, from around 9pm to 7-8am. I am feeding him 3 bottles at 6oz and his final bottle for the day is 8oz. He usually drinks the whole bottle. I am going to start giving him cereal next week, to see if he likes it and if he does then I will start giving him cereal in the morning.

My Baby was born dec 20th She eats about 3 oz to 3 1/2 oz every 3 to 4 hours
She has about a 3 hour nap during the day all together and goes to sleep at 8 we wake her up to feed her around 12 before we go to bed and she sleeps right untill 8 in the morning we are very lucky

My daughter was born on Dec. 22nd. For about the last month she has been eating around 6 oz every 4 hours, she eats between 26 and 29 oz a day. She goes to bed anywhere between 9 and 11 and will sleep for 10 to 11 hours at night. She has been sleeping through the night since she has been able to find her thumb.

Hi! My lil one was born Dec. 2 she started eating 5 ounces once she turned 4 months i also add a lil of rice cereal to her bottle that way i know she is getting a lil something extra as for the sleep i am jealous she is still not sleeping through the night! Good luck!

My daughter was born Dec 6...she eats 6 to 8 oz every 4hrs or so..i have her on a schedule. We get up around 6:30am and she eats 6oz. Eats again about 11. Takes her nap and will eat about 2 and than at 6. Now at her 9:00pm...i mix her a tablespoon of cereal with 6oz of milk. She sleeps from about 10pm until we get up at 6:30. She has done this for a lil over a month now. I don't wake her at night to feed. She lets me know if she is hungry. Very rarely does she wake at night but she never eats more than 4oz after i put her to bed at 10.

I need to add that my daughter eats inconsistently. Sometimes she will go for 4 or 5 hours in between feedings; other times she will eat every 2 1/2 or 3 hours. She will eat between 25 and 30 ounces a day.

If your baby is gaining weight and her checkups with the doctor are ok, then she is getting enough food. Babies eat when they are hungry. Forcing them wont' help. On the other hand if they stop eating and start getting dehydrated or listless then take them to the doctor ASAP.

My baby was born on 12-15 and he just bumped up to 6 oz per feeding mostly. About every 3 hours maybe 4 if I am lucky. Now that his ear infections are gone, he seems to be sleeping more like 5 hours at night finally. He is over 16lbs too.

My daughter is 4 months old, she has 5 bottles a day, we just moved her up tp 6 ounces, she usually won't finish at least 1 bottle.......we usually put her to bed around 9/10pm......before we go to bed we pick her up while she's sleeping and feed her her last bottle, hoping that will hold her ( dream feed they call it).....she will usually sleep then till 7/8am....

my lil girl was born dec 16th and she will drink between 600-900mls a day normally 3-4 hourly depending on how hungry she is that day. She likes to go to bed around 7pm but if i put her down then shes up during the night for a feed and it throws the whole next day out so i keep her up till 8-8:30 and she sleeps through till 6-6:30 before she wakes for another feed. Shes on karicare gold+ too if that helps. For ages she was only drinking 600mls a day and the tin says she should be drinking around 1L so i was too worried that she wasnt getting enough especially coz most of it came back up with her reflux but plunket say as long as shes gaining weight well, reaching her milestones and having plenty of wet and dirty nappies a day its nothing to worry about shes just not a big eater. How much is your lil one having?

my daughter is strictly breastfed, no bottles. so it's kind of hard to know the exact amount that she is eating. but when she eats its normally for about 15 minutes. her dr gave the ok to start with solid foods, so she has been eating bananas mixed with rice cereal in the morning and evening, about 1/2 a cup. she goes to sleep around 10 pm, and the only time she wakes up is if she needs to be changed. then she goes right back to sleep until about 8 or 9. i got lucky with her though, my last daughter is now 22 months old and she didnt start sleeping through the night until she was 16 months. that was not fun

My son was born Dec 2nd. He was breastfed for the first month, but I could not keep up. He now eats about 5 oz of formula every two hours and he won't eat any more than that. He gets very crabby if I push it past the 2 hours. Good news is that at night he goes down about 8 and we wake him to feed & change him about 10:30. Then he is down until 8 AM. He naps 4 times a day for maybe 1/2 sometimes an hour at a time.

thanks girls its so confusing, she averages about 23-25oz a day she is just not a big eater at all, she has been like that since she was born at 2 months she was only eating 17oz a day so we switched formula and she started eating a little more and now we just switched bottles and she has reached up to 28 but that is the most and does not happen everyday. Her last bottle is is around 9 and then she sleeps till 7:30

My son was born Dec 9th. He was breastfed for the first 3 months, but we have switched to formula due to feeding issues. We've finally settled into 5oz every 3 hours. We also started cereal once a day last week (spoon fed). He has a bottle at 7:30pm and goes to bed. We wake him at 11:30ish for a bottle and a diaper change. For the past week or so he's only been waking at 3 (it was every hour or so), but just long enough for me to give him a pacifier and he goes back to sleep until about 6am. At 6 I usually bring him to bed with me, and he'll almost always end up going back to sleep until 7 then he's up for good. He usually eats again closer to 7:30.

My 3 mont old sleep about 8 hrs at night and her feedings range from 5 to 7 oz. Although I've found the 7 oz is a bit much for her. She usually during waking hours eats every 4 to 5 hours and naps 3xs a day for an hour to an hour and a half.

my 4month old sleeps 9 hours straight at night, but feeds a bit more often in the evening before going down. i'm quite full in the morning, so he gets a big breakfast! feedings last about 15-20 min.
at this age they should be sleeping through the night -- their metabolism is mature enough to keep a sufficiently constant sugar level. and if they do wake up at night, it's better for dad to go check up on them (because if they see mum, they just figure "midnight snack!") no need to worry about breast milk production, your body adapts. so i really wouldn't recommend waking your daughter at night, you're just disrupting her sleep cycles. (and you can enjoy a full night's sleep!)
as far as quantities go (if you're breastfeeding), as go as your daughter is a happy baby, gaining weight, sleeping well, and wetting her diapers, you're doing a great job feeding her. trust yourself.

My baby too was born on Dec 5:) He eats 6 oz of breastmilk from a bottle every 3 hours. At night I breastfeed him every 3 hours as well-he wakes up on his own. If I breastfeed him during the day he eats for about 20 minutes but at night he only eats for 10.
