He doesnt put anything into his mouth.

his cousin puts EVERYTHING into his mouth. nothing is safe.

but for some reason Caden doesnt. even if hes crawling around on the floor and picks something up, he just stares at it. We call him the Little Inspector.

I have tried to give him baby cookies and he didnt want anything to do with them. i had to hold it and put it in his mouth and he made a face like he didnt like the way it felt.

then i put it on the tray and he picked it up and threw it on the floor like it was a toy.

i've tried to put chunky baby food on the tray to see if he'll get his hands in there and pick some of the chunks up to get them in his mouth and he just plays in it.

i dont know when he'll be ready...

i get nervous to give him too much bc he only has 2 teeth. like toast, cheerios, etc is out of the question. i dont even think he knows how to chew yet.

Some kids are super oral and others just aren't. My son puts everything in his mouth, to the point where I jokingly count down from 5 a lot when he grabs something new and before I get to 0 it is in his mouth. My stepson, according to my DH, never put anything in his mouth. DH says he wasn't interested in finger foods much until he was almost a year old. It a huge spectrum of development and yours will get interested at some point. I know I was terrified to give my son even a Cheerio a month ago and now he eats the little baby puffs, yogurt melts, toast, french fries, chunks of fruit and mushy veggies and all sorts of things. He only has two teeth fully through and 4 just breaking the surface, but he does a great job of mashing stuff up. He will get there and until then enjoy the perks like not having to police every little thing that he could grab and nosh on cause believe me, there are millions!!

Though I wouldn't worry about having so few teeth (my son has none and eats everything), it does sound like he's not ready for finger foods. Does he eat stage 3 baby food? If so, he's practicing chewing. I'd still continue to offer him soft, easy disolving finger foods, and show him chewing your food. Eventually he'll mimic you!
