I gained 20 pounds the pregnancy (which is normal for me) but if feels like the 10 pounds I have kept on is mostly around my stomache.... My problem is I want to lose the belly but keep the weight I've added to my thighs and butt.... is that possible?

I just had a baby a little over 2 weeks ago and I have already lost 50 lbs just from breastfeeding so that is my recommendation my doctor said that every-time you breast feed its like running 5 miles each time and that's for just sitting there feeding you little baby I thought that it was amazing to hear and man it made me feel good to loose 50 lbs cuz I gained 70lbs in total while I was pregnant

My nutritionist has helped me out a lot. Have you tried myfoodpyramid.gov? It's the USDA's guidelines for all people, including nursing mothers. So you know, if you are breastfeeding you are to consume 500 more calories/day than you did in your last trimester. I think we burn about 500 calories an hour from breastfeeding, and since feeding can take anywhere from 10-30 minutes/side, it just about equals out. Try babyfit.com. They are a product of sparkpeople and they have meal plans for breastfeeding moms as well as exercises to do on a daily basis. Also, to be safe and to keep up your breast supply and not to wear yourself out thin, the majority vote from health professionals is it takes about six months to a year to lose your baby weight or that little bit of stubborn chub.

Shelly, no Im bottle feeding. We are following the nutrition plan...they have a couple different options. the one we are doing allows us to pick the food, its the "portion plan" that just tells you how many servings of like fat or carbs to have...so far its helping. I would recommend the "lean" version of the workout. the "classic" is hardcore muscle, it all comes together and uses the same workouts but its more cardio less muscle building. I highly recommend it if you have the time to do it. its 7 days a week for 90 days then it has a "maintinence" program that is 8 weeks to allow you to keep the results you got. good luck!

Hi everyone, I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one struggling with that stubborn tummy flab. My hubby has been deployed since our son was 2 wks and its hard to get on a healthy diet or working out since Im doing this on my own. BUT I do want to recommend the WAVE FIRM workout. Its great because it really works out your core with weights and cardio. Plus the ab workouts are the best, not just your reg crunches but serious ab workouts that I used to do in past yrs. So I'm planning to get my beach body back with this and the Reebok toner shoes. By the way, The FIRM WAVE workout is cheaper than a gym membership and Walmart carries it now. I have used the Firm transfirmer too... both work great!!!

My son just turned 3 months. I am also struggling with baby belly ;) My husband and I invested in P90X...I started it a week ago and have lost 5lbs! It's tough and requires roughly an hour every day for 90 days. I feel a whole lot better and I can feel the difference all over my body!! I still have a ways to go but its fun and seems to be working!
check it out... p90x.com

I gained 50lbs and lost 30lbs the first 6 weeks, but haven't been able to take anymore off. Of course it doesn't help that I don't have time to work out, or eat well. My husband has been making the meals and its all meat and carbs...no veggies. However, I just got a new childcare center that will allow me time to workout and also breastfeed more often. My husband is deploying too, so I'll have to make my own dinners...I'm planning one big crockpot meal to last all week for dinner, and chinese take out to cover anything else. Wish me luck! I can live with the stretch marks and belly flab, it's the beginning of the fat roll in my back that is grossing me out. Although I've noticed that just concentrating on my posture, ie shoulders back, tummy firm, when I walk helps me FEEL like I'm getting somewhere.

My son is 9 weeks, when i went to the dr at 4 weeks I had lost all but 4lbs, and I gained 34. I am breastfeeding and i know that helps. The extra skin is what i would really like to lose but i know it will take time. I keep reminding myself that it took 9 months to gain the weight, it will take awhile for it to come off, including tightening up that skin! You just had a baby your body isn't supposed to look like it used too!

you are not alone.....i gained 20kilos and so far i have only lost 5kgs, even though am breastfeeding, i had a cs in december, my daughter is 2months, so i am now going to the gym, atleast one hour per day and watching what i eat, no junking, very low carbs and lots of water. just one question..some people mentioned not eating at night....so what does one take? water? please let me know more about this....

the good thing is that there is hope for us, we have testimonies from those who have lost all the weight, so let's work on loosing and let's encourage each other. it is possible.

I had my daughter 8weeks ago, and yes, breastfeeding works wonders!!! I gained 65lbs while I was pregnant and I had a c-section too, and I just lost all of that extra weight. But I also have a workout planned for me when my daughter goes to sleep which is: 15 push-ups, 60 sit-ups, 15 lounges, 30 min walks, and I use 5lb weights for curls (I'm starting to use 10lbs now to tone my arms) if you want faster results, I say repeat this work out twice a day. I think you should ask your droctor if it's too late for you to start breastfeeding, and if it's not, then start right away. :)

I had my daughter 8 weeks ago, and the breastfeeding helped me lose the pounds (along with living in a three story house..lots of stairs), but the belly is still a little flabby. Hoping to start pilates soon, it helps rebuild the muscles that take the biggest beating during pregnancy...other than that my advice is to eat well (diets rarely work) and make sure you and baby are getting everything you need to be healthy. I was doing both pilates and yoga before baby, not sure if that made a difference in how fast the weight came off or not.

My saving grace has been Pilates...for dummies, its the basic and simplest pilates movements. Its also a no impact workout on your body that concentrates on producing a lean sculpt, not the muscle mass. It does require a little patience when you start, but if you need some laughs ask your partner to join in...I think I spent the first few times laughing the whole way through watching him try to do Pilates w/ me. Also if you have time and like to cook, look into a few healthy cook books...big help for me :)
Good luck :)

Doctor says it takes 9 months to get that way so it may take that long or longer to get back. I only have a few more pounds to go but its not the number "pounds" that bother me its the way I look with my unwanted tire ;(

i was 105 before i was pregnant and was wearing sizes 0 and 1 pants. and then i had such bad morning sickness that i lost 15 lbs and was down to 90! at the end of the pregnancy i was 150!!! i lost most of it in a couple of weeks. i am now about 115, and can fit in my 1's again, but still have the flabby tummy and stretchmarks! :( i too am breastfeeding so i heard that it really helps. but if you are, i would say to keep eating as if you were pregnant. hat is what my doctor told me. the more nutrition the baby can get the better! my hips and thighs are a little bigger too, but the way i see it is al long as you dont mind the extra weight, then its not that big of a deal. i dont know if its liposuction or what the celebrities do but it is amazing, and obviously a secret to me, haha. but dont worry about the weight, i think it will all work out.

By the time I went to my WIC appointment, 9 days after having the baby I was only 2lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight and now that Zaria is 2 months I've completely gone back to my old body. I haven't been exercising but I do breastfeed exclusively and my doctor told me that it is an easy way to burn extra calories and loose some baby weight. Hope that helps

hi all, I managed to lose the weight before leaving hospital, I only put on 7kgs through my pregnancy (due to severe morning sickness). I still have the flabby belly and my hips are too spread for some of my clothes. I think having an understanding partner may help. After my last baby he wasn't very supportive and no matter what I did I couldn't lose it, but this time its falling off. Now its toning time- walking 20-30min every day, running around with the 2yo, dancing around to the Wiggles, sweping, mopping and vacuuming my house everyday, it all helps...

i got really lucky,my baby is 6 weeks and i've already lost all of the baby weight (28lbs) plus 7 pounds, i'm breastfeeding and the dr said that will help burn extra calories. but i lost 19 lbs while i was in the hospital.so now i'm trying to tone up and that's the hardest after having a baby. i keep trying and trying but i just cant get my flat stomach back :(I started doing pilates 2 weeks after i had my baby and i started doing tae-bo this week. it also helps that i have a 3 year old and a 1 year old that i have to chase after all day while dealing with the baby. if i was you i would not use diet pills, i did that after my second baby and about 3 weeks of using them i had to go to the hospital with liver complications. come to find out the diet pill i was using was recalled because of that fact. i would try to do it the natural way. and if you're breastfeeding, thats a big no no, same goes for the shakes. you and the baby need the nutrition. i do my workouts within a hour of waking up and that will boost your metabolism for the whole day. eat little and often, that also helps with the metabolism. and there are certain foods that when you eat them you burn more calories then you consume, like celery and apples. good luck! we're all here for support!

I dropped over half of what I gained almost right away, and am now sitting with an extra 15lbs. I also started underweight so I don't mind keeping some of the pounds, I just want to rearrange where it's kept!! With my first son, I did a lot of sitting on an excercise ball. It's easy to do, and it helped a lot! I sat to watch TV, breastfeed and eat! I haven't had the energy to start this time, but as soon as I get over this cold, I plan to start again.

I would like to lose mine to. I gained 50 pounds during my pregnancy. I dont know if what i lost is do to breastfeeding and that i had a c section. I have lost 30 pounds and my girl is 2 months now. I couldnt workout until after 6 weeks. Although i havent worked out. I have gone down to the tread mil and walked out it for about an hour with my girl in a snugli. Cant do too much with her just a fast walking pace. I dont have any one to watch her while i work out so she is always with me. thats y i cant really do anything else. although you can do leg lunges, sit ups, crunches, lifting baby, walking, and squats. You also have to watch what you eat and dont eat at night. Which I know that is hard for me and I kind of still do.. i dont go to sleep until 1 or 2 in the morning thou. I am hoping to get back down to my sie but not sure i will... i gained my weight everywhere... thighs, butt, boobs, stomach, and side... as well as my hips really expanded. I am not complaining to much about my weight as i am the fat.. I weighed 100 b4 preganancy, so i dont mind weighing 120 as long as the fat goes away. I also dont wanna look nasty when the fat goes away, but the skin is still there hanging.. so I dont know what else to do... hope you lose it and if you find something that helps please let us know

my son is 2 months old and i lost all the weight i gained with him a few weeks ago BUT i still have that gross lookin flab goin on. I dontk now how to get rid of it. Even tho i lost all the weight some of my old clothes wont fit cause of the flab belly i still got! the easiest thing as far as weight loss is to just not eat so much and not at night. Its hard but ya can do it. Try eating smaller portions and walking is really good for ya. My OB insists on it but with the kinda weather im having it makes it hard to get out and walk rihgt now

breastfeeding has worked well for me at my 6 week appt I had lost all but 7lbs and I gained 35. I had a c-section so just got the go ahead for working out though I had been cheating a little doing crunches and squats. Use your baby as weight to lift and you will start losing. I plan on doing some slimfast shakes when I am done breastfeeding but for now I am ok with my weight. Probably won't loose the rest till I am done BF anyhow. Hope that helps a little I also do a lot of walking
