How old was your child when you started giving them Baby Mum-mum's? (rice cracker) I've read the box , but I can't seem to find anywhere where it says how old they recommend the child is when starting this food.

i probably wouldnt until the baby can at least chew some lumps in food as i would be worried about choking so id say about 8 mnths!

About 5 1/2 to 6 month. Usually when the baby is a supported sitter and can hold thing by themselves. But you always got to watch the baby because mines for some reason likes to take big bites out of hers lol

my 1 week shy of 6months old daughter has been eating them for almost a month now. she loves them. i do supervise her very closely as she has a bad gag reflex but she does pretty good with them. they are messy but not as messy as the gerber teething biscuit things. i give them to her as a little snack after she eats her solids so i can finish my lunch or dinner or whatnot.

Thanks for the suggestions Natasha. I'll have to try them out!

I tried baby mum-mums at 23 weeks, but find that they are too easy to break for this age. I gave my daughter arrowroot biscuits instead which have 40% of their iron intake, then I found Farley biscuits which are even better. But you can give them as soon as they start on solids, especially if they are reaching for your food:)

Well I've introduced them to my daughter already and she is doing a good job feeding them to herself. I'm always with her when she is eating them and she is handling them well.

Here in Australia all I can find is it says on the box 12months plus, and on their website too! Remember there is always phone numbers on boxes so you can ring the company to check also. They don't bite!

We have something similar here in New Zealand but it isn't recommended until 9+ months or until baby is eating finger foods. There is a risk of baby choking if they are not used to "Solid" foods.

The boxes I buy do not say anything on them about 12 months. They say that they can be introduced when your baby is eating solids which mine is and has been since 4 months. I think, as with most things, each child is ready for them at different points and as long as you keep an eye on them it's OK to introduce them.

Hey there, my daughter jsut turned six months on the 9th and I had been giving them to her for about a week before that. She ahs been well established on foods and I sat with her the first time I gavee her one just to make sure she was fine with it. I know that she is great eating her food so thats why I started where as my nephew who is older then my daughter was gagging on them. I think its all up to the baby but I would say around 6 months.

I didn't give these to my first son until after 12 months as they have added salt and/or sugar. But do remember the box saying 12+mths. My second son is 6 months now and will do the same with him...no foods with added sugar or salt until after 12 months.

I started my daughter on them at 4 months, we started solids then too...... she loves them it definitely helps with the self feeding. My daughter is 6 months on the 16th and she eats solids twice a day and is breastfed. She is growing like a weed. They dissolve quickly so I wasnt worried about giving them to her. She loves them!

I buy them at Walmart but they are probably also at groceries stores. They are called "Baby Mum-Mum's". They are basically baby rice crackers that melt in the mouth. They come in a box that is about the size of a cracker box and inside they are individually wrapped in two's so they are easy to bring in a diaper bag for a quick snack!

I had not thought about giving those yet but they sound fun! My son will be 6 months on the 22nd and just started eating a tiny bit last week but doesn't seem to like it (he just wants breast milk!) I might have to get some and see how he does!

My little one will be 6 months on the 16th and I started when she was about 5 months old. She loves them, has never choked, and absolutely brightens up when she sees the box. :)

I've started them with my 6 month old now. I tried breaking off little pieces to give her so she wouldn't choke but she was crying and getting impatient for the next piece! Next I tried giving her half of one and she just kind of sucks on it until it gets soggy and breaks off in her mouth, then she pushes in more. It seems to work well, but I watch her carefully because I am a little worried that she could break off too big a peice and choke.

The rice cracker box here says supported sitter- and dissolves instantly... its kinda messy, but Kaleb bug loves them. Its mostly for those that have started solids.

It says on the packet in top right hand corner 12 months +. Says only give when they can properly chew and swallow as they can choke on them.

My son will be 6 months on the 6th and I have given him a mum mums here and there, the first time I think he was almost 5 months, I have not given him any lately because the last 2 times it was almost like it kind of got stuck in his throat and he was like gasping for air, so I was a little scared and have decided to wait a little longer to give it to him again. Oh I started giving it to him because he was already on solids without a problem.

I have an older daughter (4 years old) and I remember giving Mum-Mums to her, but just couldn't remember how old she was when we started. My little one eats two meals a day right now. Breakfast is cereal (rice, barley or oat) and a veggie. Supper is the same. She also still has bottles inbetween and we started a few fruits (apple and banana) this week. I would like to give her the Mum-Mum's so she has something she can feed herself. I will watch her carefully to make sure she isn't choking, although they do sort of melt in their mouth.

Is this ok, I gave my little un a organix rusk the other day and she loved it but then I was terrified she would choke so I took it off her she will be 6months on 7th June.

My son is also 6 months on the 9th. I hadn't thought about trying them yet, but I may. He has his food 3 times a day, but is always grabbing for our food.
