My daughter is 15 weeks and she has been pulling her hair for the last month. The doctor said it'd because she discovered it was there, but she seems to be pulling her hair out around the sides. I'm not sure what to do because she won't keep her hats on her head. Pulling her hair seems to be a comfort measure for her. She pulls on the sides when she's falling asleep and it also calms her when she crying. I'm not really sure what to do if she continues, she won't have any hair on the sides. Does anyone else have a baby who pulls out their hair?

It's normal for babies to do this. Some babies will cry because it hurts them, some do not. They are discovering new things and figuring out how it all works. This isn't a sign of OCD or anything like that. It's perfectly normal. Some babies do it because they're tired, feeling grumpy, hungry, teething or just plain bored. Try using mittens to help the situation, or just put socks on her hands.

My little boy does this too. (He's 16 weeks.) I haven't had a chance to ask the doc about it, but I think it's somewhat normal?? Sometimes he does hurt himself pulling it though... no fun.

its a sign of tiredness!! same as pulling on ears. it soothes them. if its not hurting her then let her be, otherwise try wrapping her and putting her to bed when you notice this, she might drop right off!

my daughter is 14 weeks and she has been pulling on her hair since day one i used to try to stop her but now it is how she self soothes and she also does it when she is eating or beginning to fall asleep... She is not pulling hers out though she just tugs on it a bit and she pulls mine sometimes if she can get ahold of it. I sorry if this wasnt any help but I think you should allow her to do it if its a way she help to settle herself down but either way it seems like she is going to do it regardless... lol kids have their own plans now days.. lol hope i helped a lil bit

My daughter is 11 months old and pulls her hair. I notice she does it when I am nursing her or if she is eating food. It kinda scares me because her high chair top will be covered with hair. I don't know what to do?

My baby is only 6 weeks and he also pulls his hair when he's tired. I don't think this is cute or soothing because he screams and I know he's in pain when he is doing it. I have to pry his little fist open to get him to let go. I just hope he doesn't think I am the one hurting him :( I put little beanies on his head when I suspect it might be a problem and it usually works except lately he just gets frustrated he has a hat on, he even sometimes pulls it with the hat on! It's so sad when he does this.

Yes I do. And she won't stop she is only 3months. She has a bold stop on the side. I don't know what to do I keep telling her then she gets worst. What do I do?

My daughter used to pull out her hair as well. She pulled it out for about 3 and half months. Shes almost 5 months now and she just rubs her head now. But the hair she pulled out grew back in. I thin kshe did it to help herself calm down

My 13 week old baby has pulled her hair since about 7 weeks. I have had to keep long socks on her hands at night while she is sleeping and that seems to work. I have finally been able to keep the socks off of her hands during the day but I have to watch her. Try the socks and see if that works. Poor babies. Dont they know that hurts??

I have never heard of a baby doing this, But it is called trichotillomania, its most common when a person turns 12. Its where you putt your hair out and it calms you, you can do it whan your bored or if your stressed, its an anxiety thing and OCD thing..
