she is 4 weeks old, and sleeps pretty good through the day, i have kept her up more duing the day but am finding that after the feed around 2am she won't go down for a sleep, that is she will sleep a bit and wake up sounding very congested/ hickups/ cramps. any suggestions? my son of 2 never had this problem, so not sure which way is the best. already doing baths, massage with oil after and breast or bottle.

if she's a cuddle baby like my son is (born dec 11) i've found it helpful to let him sleep in his car seat with a lot of padding under him (not enough to where he can bury his face) and to tightly tuck him in with his blanket under his arms. the car seat keeps him in a reclined position and the blankets make him feel secure enough to sleep with a little bit of mobility. the reclined position helps with the gas issues, and i've found that a pacifier helps a lot with the hickups. and as darlene said, holding her in an upright position after feeding for about 10-15 minutes helps settle their tummy so when you lay them down they don't get the hickups as much and also helps with reflux.

How long are you keeping her up after she drinks? I started holding my son upright for about 10 minutes before puttting him back down and it has helped with the hiccups. As for the congestion, do you have a humidifyer in the room? She could be dry?

My older son is also 2 and I don't rememebr ever being up as long as with this one!
