My son was only 25% too and his doctor was not concerned, his is 44 cm though so his is already big...

Kendra is in th 25th percentile for height, 30th for weight and 95th for head...we had cat scan done to rule out plagiocephaly, and all is good :) they wanted her to go to a plastic surgeon to make sure her bones were not fuzing together, and they are right on target....she's growing complatel normally, but these doctors are just crazy and scare you for no reason....i really would not stress...but ask your doctor what they are concerned for?

It depends how big your child was born really so can't compare them. My son was born 8 pound 12 and was in the 97% when born, then about 6 months old was in the 90% for weight. For height he is 97% percentile and told if he continues in that range with be a tall 180cm at 20 yrs of age! For head circumference we've never been told a percentile for it. His blue book only has percentiles for weight and height here in Australia.

Oh yes, it was! He was 30 inches long and as of yesterday he was 26 lbs.

My twins are still fairly small in my opinion, the older one is in the 10th percentile for weight 25% for height and head size. Younger one is 25% for weight, height and head size.

here's a website I frequent regularly after every doctor visit lol



just type in the numbers and 1st click "Weight-for-Age, birth to 36 months"

after, go back and click "Length-for-Age, birth to 36 months"

then, go back again and click "Head Circumference-for-Age, birth to 36 months"



i think there is an option to do all three at once but i always get confused trying to read the chart when i do that, so i do them all individually.

its really cool bc if your kid was early, you can just type in your due date and see what his percentiles would be if he were on time.



AND you can even do weight for length, which tells you if your kid is chubby for his height (lol like mine - he's in the 90th percentile weight for height - short and round.)



@Michelle Dable, you said your son was 22 inches long. that was a typo right? bc my son is 26 inches long and he's not even on the charts.

Unless there was a large increase in the head circ, don't be too worried! I have twin boys and 1 of them had a month long NICU stay, he subsequently had to have a shunt put in to drain excess fluid and has never had any problems since. It is better to know for sure what is going on and if there is something wrong it can be treated immediately before problems develop. Whatever comes you way, you will make it thru!

That sounds strange to me. My daughter who is also 9 months old measured in the 90th percentile for both head and weight and 50th percentile for length. My first daughter was the same. My Doctor says she doesn't have a big head, just alot of brains in there...lol

We've actually been joking that we're raising Adam Richman's replacement for Man V Food, haha. My little guy loves to eat and reminds of Adam when he eats. Everything he eats is the best thing he's ever tasted. I love my little chunk :0)

Michelle, I have a lil giant, too. As long as he is growing steadily and not putting on weight too fast, there's nothing to worry about. My son is right around 21 pounds, as well, and weighs more than his sister did at her 2nd birthday (she weighed 19 pounds at 2 years). I think we've just got a couple of football players in the making ;0)

Our LO is 50 for weight 50 for height and 90 for head. He's got a big brain hiding in there. Funny that people always say he looks older than he is but if he's 50th percentile then he's right on the money.

My son is 10 months and at his 9.5 month check-up he was 91st in height, 88th in weight and 65th in head. He's already 30 inches and 21 lbs 10 oz.. People always ask me if he's 18-24 months.... Kind of makes me worry about my "lil giant"

my son is 80th for weight and height and 85th for head ..

he just turned 9 months, and weighs 23lbs, and is 29inches long... so he's a big boy for sure!

My son just had his 9 mon. well visit and he's in the 91% for height, 65% for weight and I have no idea what % for head, but it is 17 in.

My daughter is 9 months and 2 weeks and she just went to her drs last week. She is 20lbs 29 inches and her head is 16 1/2 inches around. The dr said she was in the 75 percentile. Kids heads are huge no matter how big or little their bodes are. The dr probably just wants to check for excess fluid surrounding the skull/brain. My dr did this when my daughter was 4 months old because of her head growth! Im sure its nothing but its better to have it check if the Dr is concerned at all. Im sure she will even out!! Just keep up the good work of being a mama!

My son was has been 98th% in height & weight and 85th% in head circumference at every visit since he was born. At his 9 month visit, he finally came down to 87%th in weight (since he has been crawling he has slimmed down) but still 98th% in height and 85th% in head circumference. I agree there's nothing to worry about until there's something to worry about. Just remember that all kids are different and all of them pretty much even out by the time they are 2 anyway. Glad to see your doc taking a proactive approach!

My fam doctor does not put much stock in percentiles because unless your kid falls in the 50th percentile for everything you are bound to start to worry if he is too small, big, short, tall etc etc. So I am not sure what my son is, but if they are going to do xrays at least they are taking an active approach and hopefully it turns out just fine.

my friend's kid had that done and she ended up being fine.

kids' heads are huge!

my son is only at 25% for head circ, BUT he's very small. only 10% for weight. and under 0% for height. he's very tiny with a big head lol.

I was just reading some of the other posts and i see they posted actually weight, height, and head circ.



my son is 18 lbs, 26 inches, and 17.5 inches for head. lol its very round!

Try not to worry at least your doctor is being safe. You would worry if you had a blazay dr who never worried. Im sure she'll be fine they are prob just routine checks for that situation. My daughter is also in the 50th percentile for all 3 so its probably easy for me to say.

Took my son for his 9 mo on Monday. He's 110th for height, 60th for weight and my doctor never measures his head (which is big). So I also have a tall, relatively slim baby with a big head LOL. Not sure what they would xray the head for. If her head and height are the same percentile, in my mind, that is perfect.

My little girl is also 9 months (and 2 weeks). When I took her to her 9 month check, she was still in the 50th percentile for length, weight and head circumference... Just remember that there is a huge range of "normal" - did the doctor mention exactly What problem they're looking for??
