I`m really struggling to get in a routine. I`ve been a bit slow to introduce new foods to my little one and speak to other mums who say their babies will eat anything.
I know he still needs 500-600ml milk and I`m struggling to fit it all in.
He hasn`t any teeth yet and has been refusing lumpier foods but it could be the taste he doesn`t like or he`s not hungary cos he`s full on his afternoon milk feed but then I like 2 give him that to make sure he`s not starving when we`re out and about.
HELP!!!!!!!

Many medical professionals say that feeding him just milk until he is 1 year old is fine. Juice and treats are really not necessary. At 6 months I followed my food guide to a tee. Bottle and cereal for breakfast. Fruit for a snack. Iron rich food (meat or cereal), vegetables for lunch. Milk, plain yogurt or cheese for snack. Supper was iron rich food, fruit and vegetables and a bottle.

My dietician said not to worry about if they eat the lumpier foods as long as they manage finger foods they will learn how to chew that way. My 10 1/2 month old is still eating purees but can also eat toast, corn crackers, rice crackers, wine biscuits, rusks and fruit bars. She refuses to eat anything wet cold or slimey with her fingers, who could blame her lol. Were a bit behind too due to severe reflux and allergies. Her day looks like this
6-7am Wakes up and has breakfast normally fruit with muesli
7-8 she has a bottle normally up to 250mls
9am Nap anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half depending on what time she woke up for the day.
11:30 Lunch of pureed fruit or vege and a finger food
12-12:30 Bottle of up to 250mls
1-2pm Nap depending on when she shows tired signs for an hour to an hour and a half
3pm afternoon tea (finger food)
4:30pm tea of a pureed veg (I cant get her to eat meat)
5-5:30pm Bottle of up to 250 mls
6-6:30pm Bed for the night
She will often wake around 9-10pm get her bum changed and go back down until the morning other nights she wakes a few times (were cutting teeth fun fun)
She is a good little girl now we have the allergies and reflux under control, I am so blessed :)

yeah its hard to figure our little ones out sometimes :)
my 10.5mth old son eats some lumpy foods but not others - some meals i still puree till its a thick non-lumpy consistency (like potato, veggie& ground mince/chicken). But then there are other lumpy foods he doesn't mind (like rice & chicken cut into small pieces). Its abit of trial and error to suss out what he likes & doesn't like. And also, they say that it takes many times of giving something before they get used to the flavour....
Its tricky to know whether your son is full from milk or not, but like someone else already mentioned, you could give the food before the milk (which is what the nurses suggest over here). But yes, apparently they need to still have about 600mls milk/day.
good luck - and hang in there :)

my daughters 10 months old she wakes up between 6 and 7 i give her a bottle of milk and she goes back to sleep till about 9 half past then she will have her breakfast wich is normally a 4months plus jar then she will have her dinner and tea and she goes to bed with a bottle of milk at 8 some nights she will have a fight to go to sleep but i just keep lying her back down and tell her its bed time and leave the room as for the lumpier food my daughter wont eat them she will only eat table food cut up in to small pieces or the 4months plus jars of food and a desert when your out and about take jars of baby food with you no doubt you will stop to have some food yourself so just arrange it for when hes due to be fed if not there are a lot of baby rooms not in shopping centers you could feed him in there i now normally buy her something from where i go to eat as long as its not fast food i would try him with finger foods he might enjoy it more as he can feed himselfyou could even make him a sandwich and take it with you he cant eat that in hes pushchair aslong as you dont mind it getting messy lol hope you figur something out and get your routine sorted good luck !!

If you know he's getting enough milk try the food before the bottle or just for the shortterm try scheduling your outings around his feed routine. Gerber's website has a thing where you tell them what stage your baby is at and they plan a meal guide that might help you. It was a decent starting place for us. Keep in mind that some days our son eats lots and some days not as much. I would recommend not forcing the issue as it might create a negative association. Also I give water in a sippy at meals so he's got something to wash the food down but not fill him up (and it's good for constipation if that's an issue too). Good luck and remember just when you figure it out they change.

well def do not let the little one fill up on water. It's empty calories! At this stage they need all the calories they can get. Try the Puffs, they come a a few different flavors and they are fast dissolving. that is actually what my daughter learned to finger feed herself on. she loves them and they are perfect for in the car snack. good luck!

Hi Cara. I've had my son on a routine since about 1 month old, but of course it changes - as he does! lol
My son will drink anywhere from 10-21oz of formula per day. I let him drink what he wants. I sometimes fear he isn't getting enough, but trust he knows what he needs. He also eats 3 meals per day and 1 snack in between those bottles ... so I know he's not starving. My son isn't always a fan of lumpy foods either (especiall with baby food). If I feed him our table food .. he loves it, chunky or not. Have you tried feeding your son table food? He may just prefer that. You could also try full fat yogurt, cut up fruit (bananas are great and mushy), and oatmeal or cream of wheat. These are all filling and important for the vitamins. I do know that it can take a few tries of a food before they take it ... just keep trying. Best of luck!!

Instead of all that milk I would replace 1 or 2 afternoon milks with water or infant juice so he doesnt get to full on Milk.. the little gurber snacks for infants that he can pick up with his hands would be really good for him. they have 3 different flavors. cheese, veggies, and maple.. my daughter loves them. and really good ones since he dont have teeth would be the yogurt melts... and anything that desloves in his mouth so he doesnt have to do alot of chewing since again no teeth... that might get him trying new foods...
